Limerick GAA 2022 - Dual Kings (Part 1)

Concannon is one of Galway’s best forwards over the past few years tbf.

That’s the problem;not enough time spent chatting shit with friends while practicing casually down in the field

Decent team. Not a huge fan of Reidy inside tbh.

That’s true.

There was a great piece done on Tony Kelly last year saying himself and his friends in Ballyea like Browne/Flanagan/Deasy etc. used spend hours upon hours at the pitch every day pucking and messing around. The ‘field crew’ they were known as. There was a tap with water at the field and that kept them going for the day.

Agreed. Presume he will be taking the frees. I’m sure he knows himself that his future is probably not at corner forward.

Same in KIlmallock sure. The advantage of having the field in the centre of the town. You’d never see young fellas in there now though. Different times.

Those underage games v Sixmilebridge were meant to be epic.

Jamie Shanahan, Seadna Morey etc. Shanahan was meant to be scoring off both sides from 70 yards at under 12.

Presumably not if Gillane is there too though?

They were “ epic “ apparently

You are correct of course.

Any sign of a football team being named?

Tomorrow night apparently.

Bodies are still growing up to 18/19 so they will be behind someone in their mid 20s who has also spent years gymming. Strength wise especially.

I wish they just went back to under 18s and under 21.

I think this is seriously impacting the profile of these players.

Aside from what the players get out of it, the spectacles of both competitions are shadows of what they were.

Yep. I’d say both Gillane and hegarty both really only made an impact for Limerick in their final year as 21s.

Things could be different if it was under 20s.

20s is too young anyway. Easy to be distracted finishing school and starting college too.

I think under 21s is much fairer.

Tis the way its gone now anyway you need 3 years of S&C to get to the level required. Unless you are a freak you aren’t ready at 19. See the young hurler of the year now. They barely come up with three candidates

Yep and 20s is a poor standard too.

Under 21s with senior lads playing meant the step up to senior level was a little bit easier.

The gap is much bigger now. It probably means you’ve to do a year or two as a sub and that’s tough on players.
