He might drop it altogether
This is not good news on Gillanes lads, if there is any evidence of even the slighted splenic trauma then the medical protocol is 3 weeks sidelined before contact sport can be resumed.
That shoulder from McInerney was on Gillaneās right hand side. Spleen is on left so hopefully not the issue if the shoulder was the cause of his injury.
it was such a hit the damage could have shot from one side to the other!
anyways hopefully not and he is able to play
Yep, Iām far from a medic.
Any word on Joe lads? Is he alright?
Concussed
Probably not the worst outcome given the optics of it.
Lads are literally dying out on the pitch these days.
As children you and I, spent endless days of fun
In winters rain and summerās golden sun
Hegartys development is insane. He couldnāt make the subs for the minor panel and Iām fairly sure he was a late addition to the 21s panel the year we won the all Ireland. Even then as a half back he didnāt look like a superstar.
Iād have said after 2018 win he might be one of players to lose out to maybe dowling or a younger player as he wasnāt great at times but heās improved immeasurably since then again. Itās remarkable victory for hard work and dedication. I canāt think of many players that have improved from the age of 23 to 27 like him. His skill level has improved no end too. Itās really impressive. Could easily have been lost to the hurling too probably. Just shows how a few little things can break your way.
Agree, it debunks the myth you have to play senior club hurling to improve as a player
It goes even further as he wasnāt in the academy structure a such either. Didnāt play minor championship and only one year at 21s. Thatās very unusual nowadays. He deserves immense credit. I doubt many players from a junior club have done what heās done.
Iād assume he utterly lords games for Patās even if he is only going through the motions. Athletically he would be on a different planet to a lot of lads at that level.
The year they won the County Junior they played him at 6. He won everything back there and was able to break forward with the ball for scores. It was like watching an overage player at times. He is an incredible athlete. His skill level for his size is unbelievable too. He has worked very hard on on his striking too.
Josh Ryan of Doon reminds me of him when he was about 19 or 20, even his last year U21. I reckon if Kiely brought Josh Ryan in he could do a similar job on Josh. Perhaps the mentalities arenāt the same there though.
Team G/B did an incredible job limiting him to just the 14 points in the intermediate relegation finalā¦!
Seamus Harnedy?
Cork posters may correct but he played for imokilly which were a divisional team and he also played a few years of 21s too for cork. Iām not sure on whether he played minor hurling for cork.
He played Junior B with Itaās until 2007 - what does it matter about divisional - most lads development would be done at the club outside of a county set up. Hegarty would have played a good level at College like
Harnedy only got on the 21ās the last year he was underage.
