Walter Walsh
I never said it did. I merely pointed out it is very unusual for a lad from a junior club who didnāt play much underage stuff for his county to be so good.
Itās rare alright.
Harnedy is much the same as Hego in how they developed - outside of the divisions but Hego was in the setup as a minor. Harnedy wasnt
Hegarty has improved massively, as all Limerick players have in the past 4 seasons, but I still maintain he was good enough to start on that minor team in 2012.
He was a phenomenal ballwinner at underage and obviously able to run; he just wasnāt seen as a fashionable choice.
A lot of misty eyeism going on here. He was consistently one the the best on the 21ās teams at wing back because of his athleticism and he has the stuff.
Sean Finn and Gillane werenāt start for the 21ās in 2015 too.
Walsh was a standout underage hurler though, he was a monster on the 2008 and 2009 Kilkenny minor teams
I donāt really rate Harnedy. He also played senior club hurling.
Jeez, I think heās a great bit of stuff. He might go quiet in games for spells but he generally contributes in almost all the games and Cork are very reliant on him to pull them into games
Well watching Hegarty last night I was convinced that in his current form heās in the top 2 or 3 players in the country.
If he has a great final heāll get HOTY.
Has he a better attitude than when on the football field for them?
Iād say it is between him, De Burca and Bennett for HOTY. Maybe Kyle Hayes or Cian Lynch could come into the reckoning if one of them is to dominate the final.
Diarmaid Byrnes has been phenomenal this year. Absolutely immense but isnāt seeming to get the recognition. He has been Limerickās best performer after Hego
How many of the five frees he gave away were pointed?
Harnedy has been out and out one of the best forwards in the country for years now.
Hegarty was average enough in a few 21 games we played against him. I remember him and Kyle having a right battle in a city intermediate championship game a few years back.
Byrnes is as good a wing back as there is in the game at the minute, big leader too by the looks of it. Think he is underrated due to his odd wild shot or clearance but he dominates his patch consistently. A bit like John Gardiner in his pomp. Having both him and Hayes as the two wing backs makes that half backline a really dominant unit, Dan Morrissey is a good steady hurler but Hayes is a wrecking ball with and without the ball and brings a good but more.
One of the best is how many? He wouldnāt be in the top 10
Itās pure hyperbole.
