Limerick GAA 2022 - Dual Kings (Part 1)

that hasnā€™t been as much of a problem this year - it was 100% in previous years - they seem to have him settled on that stuff.

I think he is gone under the radar in a big way this year

I said recently I think heā€™d start on any team of any era and Iā€™d stand by that.

Iā€™d agree with you on Byrnes, I think heā€™s been superb this season and would agree our second best player after Hego (taking into account that Finn hasnā€™t had as much chance to shine tbh).

Although, was it his second point yesterday? A no-look shot on the turn from inside in his own halfā€¦ absolutely incredible if it goes over; if it goes wide, he gets a bollocking :joy:

Iā€™d say they allow him one

He seems to have fixed that this year and worked hard on his long range frees. They are much improved

LIMERICK

  2. Sean Finn (Bruff)
  3. Paddy Oā€™Loughlin (Kilmallock)
  4. Lorcan Lyons (Monaleen)
  5. Colin Ryan (Pallasgreen)
  6. Andrew La Touche Cosgrave (Monaleen)
  7. Conor Byrnes (Murroe-Boher)
  8. Thomas Grimes (Na Piarsaigh)
  9. Robbie Hanley (Kilmallock)
  10. Cian Lynch (Patrickswell)
  11. Barry Nash (South Liberties)
  12. Seamus Flanagan (Feohanagh-Castlemahon)
  13. Peter Casey (Na Piarsaigh)
  14. Tom Morrissey (Ahane)
  15. Ronan Lynch (Na Piarsaigh)

Thatā€™s the team from the minor final that lost to Kilkenny in 2014. 6/7 players going for their second all ireland. I doubt Kilkenny got one player off their winning team. Amazing the way it works.

Gillane too on the bench that day.

Out of the current KK team, Conor Browne, Billy Ryan, Liam Blanchfield, Tommy Walsh, Conor Delaney were on the winning side then in 2014

All the money pumped into limerick hurling is really paying off.

Watched that game in an Irish bar in Munich with a Cork expat and a German Kilkenny fan (hurlix?). Four of us in the bar. Left to stew and returned for the senior final, couldnā€™t get in the door with the crowd. Aidan McGeady led Ireland to a last minute win over Georgia later that night

Jez he must be lording it alrite for Pats

would Hegarty be capable of lining out as a good 6 at inter county?

Not that Limerick need him there - they would have Hannon, Hayes to use there before having to consider Hego

A waste of his talents there at inter county level in my opinion. He won an U21 All Ireland in 2015 at wing back alright.

Hayes will eventually go into 6, in time.

He used to switch or alternate into the edge of the square early on in the lads time. Thats all gone now.

He was never particularly good at that tbh. Heā€™d probably still be a good intercounty wing-back if needed but mightnā€™t have the short, snappy hurling that Hannon would have at 6.

I was at it. They never really hurled a ball on the day from my recollection of it. There was a bit of discontent in the lead up to the final that maybe didnā€™t help. Senior final was a cracking game for all kk v tipp became a very boring pairing.

WHAT a forward line

The general feeling at the time was the management got too clever. I think they pushed Lynch back as a sweeper and we didnā€™t win a ball in the full forward line.

Never got going at all that day.

I dunno the ins and outs of it but there some fall out anyway afterwards.

Youā€™d wonder did them losing that day help in the medium term to keep expectations down.
