We should have been 5 or 6 up at half time
How did Daniel Daly go?
He was their main scorer alright when they did seem to lack shooters.
He was decent but I think he did rely on players to do a lot of the work to get him the ball. But thatâs fair enough I suppose as a full-forward.
Ya he doesnât have huge workrate but he is effective when he gets the ball. Did ye drop anyone in front of him?
Tony was 6 and our spare man out of possession but there probably was too much space in front of him, we didnât have an out-and-out sweeper.
The glin/Griffinâs marriage proposal has failed to get parental approval I hear
Whatâs the story with the Intermediate Semi Finals? Who plays who?
Senans v Drom
Mungret v Rathkeale
Mungret will surely fall over the line this year
Not so good for me
Hurling Semi Finals*
Sorry, I should have said
Some win for HH this evening. Theyâve rightly turned their season around. Were odds on to finish bottom of group 3 games ago and now in county semi
Just when you think the Nick Grene Sportsground Maintenance intermediate hurling championship canât get any more dramaticâŚ
Sensational finale in sun kissed Knocklong this evening as gallant Hospital/Herbertstown stunned neighbours and hot favourites Knockainey to secure bragging rights and, crucially, a place in the semi final next week. A miraculous transformation in fortunes for a club who looked set to be in a relegation scrap only a number of weeks back but are now 60 mins away from a county final appearance.
All seemed to be going to plan early on as two quick Pa Kirby points had Knockainey up and running. But Hospitalâs direct approach quickly paid dividends as a long ball in was caught cleanly on the edge of the square before the attacker was fouled - up stepped Mikey Bob Ryan to drill home. He was to repeat the dose a few mins later after capitalising on a defensive cock up (Beverly Hills Cop defending from the Eddie Murphy coached outfit).
The pitch was patchy enough and this suited Hospital who made it a right battle. Kirby frees were keeping Knockainey in it as they trailed by five at half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern, real tough championship hurling with scores from play at a premium. Harry Fox was unerring from placed balls all through, keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Knockainey, though, were thrown a lifeline when the lively Jason Lonergan flicked home after a scramble. The diminutive Lonergan was to give his side the lead for the first time all day minutes later, sweeping home after netminder Lorcan Costello denied Kirby with a smart stop. That seemed to be that but Hospital had other ideas.
Trailing by two as it entered injury time, a Fox free reduced the deficit to the bare minimum. Referee Timmy McGrath, who had a good game, indicated there was still a couple of mins left. From the same puck out, Mark Deegan - who was a colossus all the way through - caught the delivery from the keeper around midfield and fired it back over his head. A truly inspirational score when the need was greatest. The huge crowd was now fully engrossed as extra time loomedâŚ
Michael Whelan had other ideas. Getting the ball way out on the wing with barely room to swing a cat, he shot without looking at the posts. The ball hung in the air for what seemed an eternity. The roar from the Hospital faithful on that side told you it was over. Referee McGrath didnât allow the puck out as distraught Knockainey players slumped to their knees, their year over. A very tough way to bow out. Lonergan and Kirby supplied 2-11 between them, lack of scorers out the field really hurt them. FT 2-14 to 2-13.
Full credit to Hospital though, huge heart, grit, character, bottle and belief to stay at it. Crazy to be now in a semi final after looking relegation contenders only a few weeks back. For coach TJ Ryan this achievement probably surpasses winning a county title over the road with Kilworth.
Before the quarter finals the county board had stipulated that the semi finals were as follows.
Croagh v Knockainey/Hospital
G/B v Bruree/Murroe Boher.
The two upsets mean that you now have two semi finals which are a repeat of group stage matches. Croagh v Hospital and G/B v Murroe. Surely the sensible thing would be to have teams who havenât already met as the pairings (Croagh v Murroe and G/B v Hospital) but it seems the pairings are set in stone for next weekend so the original fixtures will stand.
What drama. Croagh annihilated Hospital in the group stage but Hospital were down five or six players due to Electric Picnic the same day. Martin Kiely and most of the Croagh boys were in Knocklong today so complacency shouldnât be an issue. Then again this championship has thrown up so much drama nothing would surprise you. It would be a seismic shock though, a few decibels higher than today even.
What drama.
Croagh v Hospital, 14/10, Ballyagran, 1pm
G/B v Murroe Boher, 14/10, Fedamore, 4pm
Relegation final
Feohanagh v Knockaderry, 14/10, NCW, 2pm.
That has to be the shock of the year so far. Eclipses Kilmallock 2 beating Croagh as C/K were already through and Christians beating Patâs aswell.
Iâd have given HH no chance tbh.
Charline have not yet gotten over the defeat to monagea
Itâs right up there.
Doon beating The âWell considering the results a week before was another major surprise.
Savage amount of games on next weekend. All duck or no dinner from here on in.

Whereâs this from it has different times on the Limerick GAA website?
Sporting Limerick website.
I noticed the earlier throw in time of the first senior semi final. Not sure which one is correct.
Thought that was the TV game?
