They carry themselves as champions should.
They ooze humility
Thereâs another fawning Joe Canning article imminent.
I hope not, Iâm starting to lose a tiny bit of that âsavage respectâ we all have for Joe

Just back from The Bog Garden.
Due to work commitments only made it in for the last 20 minutes. Scoreboard wasnât in operation but Killeedy won by five or six points and pick up the two valuable Woodlands Hotel and Spa Junior A hurling championship points on offer. Claughaun had a lot of the play and were aided by a strong breeze but found scores hard to come by, from the bits I saw.
Pitch was in savage nick again, with the stand they really have a nice little set up there now.
In the other game over the road in Mick Neville, St Kieranâs overcame Askeston.
Lost by six, missing Willie, his brother and two or three more definite starters with injuries. Willie would easily be worth the 6 points alone. Frustrating.
Kierans had a gale in the first half and were ten up. Game petered out then. Had we had the breeze in the first half we might have had something to cling on to, but no complaints Kierans the better side.
Neither side will go far on tonights evidence.
Doon Sunday. Could be ugly
He is coaching Dublin Camogie team also!
When did adrian o sullivan hurl for limerick?
Never, heâs a bullshiter of the highest order! Didnât hurl with Keirans beyond u14s.
Strange game in Fedamore. Croom 2-22 Murroe/Boher 2-13. An absolute galeforce wind made it a game of two halves, but Croom made full use of it in the first half and it meant that Murroe/Boher were always chasing the game, and Croom were able to slow it down and just keep them at armâs length until it was probably too late.
I would say that the final scoreline was slightly harsh on M/B but Croom led for the whole game and was only a brief period in the final ten minutes where you thought they might be caught.
Some asset to have someone like Ger Flynn in goals with the wind who was bombing puckouts over the Murroe/Boher half-back line onto the '21, but when they dropped deep was also able to ping them to midfield. And pretty much everything they hit went over the bar. Conor Laffan hit 0-3 from play from distance in the first half, just opened the shoulders from way out the field and the wind carried it over the bar. The Goose was inside at full-forward and caused trouble; no legs but just strong under a high ball and is smart. He had a first half shot on goal well-saved by Killian Quaid but James Malone scored the rebound to open a bit of distance between the sides. Lucey had another goal chance which he eventually finished to the net but after Deccie OâDriscoll had already blown for a free.
The real star man for Croom, however, was Mark Reidy who caught some amount of ball and brought much-needed energy to their attack. He hit 0-3 in the first half, finished with 0-4 but was top class throughout. Down the other end, Murroe/Boher were actually hurling alright but hit some very bad wides and were just struggling to stop Croom banging points over with the wind. Mikey Ryan Maddaboy was exceptionally good for M/B, the Croom full-back line just couldnât handle him. He won a first-half penalty which the other Mikey Ryan (N) drove over the bar. Maybe they needed a goal at that point, but Ryan (M) soon banged in a goal after again burning the corner-back to give them a lift.
But a couple of wides from in front of the post and a few frees from James Malone opened up a 10-point gap at the break. You would probably say it was an 8-point wind but M/B just didnât make as much use of it as Croom did. While Croomâs scoring certainly slowed down, M/B just couldnât make inroads into the lead. Croom slowed down the set-plays, had a few injuries and just managed the game very effectively. And when they needed him, Mark Reidy stepped up and won a few puckouts clean to take the pressure off. He was also fouled a few times, and Malone nailed his frees into the wind which M/B didnât do.
In the end, that accuracy and clinical nature was probably the difference. Croom hit 5/6 wides, M/B missed 18/19 scoring chances. Croom scored 9/9 frees, M/B scored 5/11, struggled against the wind in the first half with the longer frees. Flynn made 3 saves in the second half, they obviously missed the penalty in the first-half and drove another goal chance wide from close range. And while Mikey Ryan continued to rampage through their defence, they just hauled him out before he reached inside the '21 and OâDriscoll didnât really give any yellow cards. M/B didnât have any freetakers to really threaten goal from those and youâd have to say Croom managed that well.
Was OâFarrell on the frees in Willieâs absence?
He was, he didnât miss many. Our best player on the night, got a couple of nice scores from play too, but obviously still too young to drag you through a game at that level.
MB might fall into the great junior A category yet
Is that Mikey Ryan Maddaboy the lad that was on the 2019 Minor Panel?
No thatâs Mikey Ryan Neddy.
Maddaboy is the former Limerick county hurler, was a Limerick minor in 2010, on the 21s team of 2011.
Itâs very confusing that they have two lively corner-forwards with exactly the same name
