Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

Yes, the red head. He was a decent yoke alright.

It’s a good job we have the much mocked and maligned nickname system for the Ryan clans or we’d be bollixed

I think Maddaboy is a townland, not sure what his ‘clan name’ is but think he generally goes on the programmes as Ryan (M) so maybe that’s it.

Ryan Ned is definitely one of the families going back a long way around that part of the world.

Jesus it’s a dark time for M/B truth be told. They’re in danger now of relegation again, you’d imagine they would have enough for a couple of the weaker sides in the division but it’s a bear pit and some of those sides are well used to Intermediate, to which there’s a right bit of madness involved

That’s the one I was thinking of. He was in the UK back in the day. AT Uni I think

Madaboy is indeed the townland from where he hails.

He’d be Ryan Rua. Appropriate enough.

There’s something awful mad off East Limerick. Understatement of the century I know

I’m fierce nervous about driving to Doon on Saturday.

You’re a braver man than me

Yeah flying into Shannon this evening for a week with the crew.

That makes sense.

They won’t like to admit it but they must be missing Slippy Hickey

What was the story there ? Must have been a falling out or he took a notion?

Seanie Tobin moreso, you would think.

He did an awful lot of scoring for an awful long time.

Up until his injury/forced retirement Tobin was consistently one of the best club hurlers and forwards in the county for the guts of a decade. Day in, day out he was putting up phenomenal scores. 1-17, 2-12, 0-16 etc was commonplace.

They’ve lost to Bruree and Croom now. Hard to see them picking up points against Feohanagh or Na Piarsaigh either.

They’ll still have enough to stay up, though.

If you look at minor teams over the last decade, they have produced very few. Byrnes in 2015 was a good player, does he still play?

They weren’t sorry to hear him go by all accounts

Signed the form not a bother I’m told.

Then again, apparently he has been brilliant with Croagh and has been a good presence and influence, so…
