18-11 up 39 mins
Joe Booth (spelling?) some man under a high ball for Waterford
Much like senior match, when looking like being reigned in by Waterford, kicked up a gear.
0-27 to 3-15 FT
I did
Should have won that by moreā¦ Hardly won a puck out all game tho.
Just back from TUS GG.
A good win all things considered. Waterford were a good side, some giants but plenty of hurling to go with it too. Had to dig that out in the end, as they got nothing easy from the visitors.
It was level at the break which was probably a bit unfair on Waterford. They had about five wides in the first five mins when they were doing all the hurling. Came back to bite them.
SOB was excellent. Tacked on the scores when Limerick were struggling.
Came out like a house on fire on the resumption which ultimately won them the game. Seven or eight on the trot, Adam English with a couple of crackers - he ended with 0-05 from play but he wasnāt as dominant as he can be. Plenty to improve on which is the ideal way to go into the final.
Fergal OāConnor had a fine game at full back. The Ahane man was decent beside him too. Got a bit nervy towards the end when the gap was down to 2 but good composure to see it out.
Coughlan came into in the second half, grabbed one wonder score in particular after a lung bursting run but some of the key players like him, Quilty, English, even Aidan OāConnor have a lot more in them. This team plays in spurts, devastating for five mins but then hits valley periods.
Final v Tipp next week.
Also, is there a worse local radio station in the country than Live 95? I doubt they even had updates of this match tonight.
Back to the car after and nothing about it, Dua Lipa was on. Switched to Tipp FM and they had full live coverage of the other semi - the main commentator was hopeless and got names wrong repeatedly but thatās not the point. Alright sort Ken Hogan kept the show on the road, with the coverage sponsored by Martin OāDwyer Family Butchers in Cashel.
The Limerick senior hurlers and Munster Rugby is all Live 95 know.
Cunts to a non-binary in Live96.
Big lad in the goals for Limerick. Under active thyroid I believe. Aaron Ryan blew up badly for us at the end.
You must remember though that Tipperary is a real Hurling County.
We werenāt great in the first half, only hurled in fits & starts. Thought our full-back line did well, and Shane OāBrien was always a threat inside. Waterford hit a mound of wides. The wind was obviously stronger than it seemed in the stand because our puckouts kept hanging up in the air. They probably should have been a few points ahead at half-time. Their number 5, Joe Booth, is a monster under a high ball. Number 15, Paudie Fitzgerald, very lively aswell but their two subs made an impact aswell, both scoring goals and one of them won the free for the other goal too.
Started the second half like a train, scored seven points without reply. John Kirby made a huge difference again. We just did things way snappier and it looked like we were going to cruise home to victory. But Waterford were dogged, stayed in touch and when they went for goals, they were able to get them. I do think we were the better team and well-deserving of the victory but the goals will concern management, as they were just too sloppy.
I thought Fergal OāConnor was probably our best player, really impressive at full-back. The two corner-backs did alright too, although Evan OāLeary is very light. Blown out of it by the corner-forward for the first goal. Heās tenacious though and battled well throughout.
I thought Hurley did well at centre-back too, reads the game well, although again, a bad mistake for the second goal. Cian Scully was alright, Barry Duff didnāt have a whole pile to do when he came on. Coughlan was decent enough, scored one unbelievable point after running from wing-back and showed bags of pace. But he is slow on the turn and was targeted a couple of times in that regard.
Our midfield surprisingly struggled, Joe Sweeney just never got into the game, Iād say he only had one possession. Jimmy aswell, a serious hurler, but just didnāt go for him today. Missed a few pick-ups, didnāt win anywhere near the amount of dirty ball youād expect. Kirby came on for Sweeney at half-time and was superb once again. Surely he starts the next day. OāMeara came on for Quilty and did alright.
English & AOC got 0-5 from play apiece. And still, you think they can probably do more. AOC was good though, lovely wrists, won a few balls in the air, missed one free but generally good. Adamā¦ it shows how expectations we have of him. I didnāt think he was that great, and I actually think he seems to be lacking confidence or something. Just needs to keep it simple, because when he did, he was so dangerousā¦ 0-5 from play is some scoring like. Eddie Stokes alongside them, an absolute workhorse and scored two big points. One at the start to settle us, and one after their second goal to push the lead back out to three. Was a huge score. Heās one of those that will go under the radar, but heās a very clever player and gives you absolutely everything heās got. Iām a huge fan.
Shane OāBrien was superb inside, a real threat. And when he came out, he won ball aswell. Heād be even better if he made sure of his pick-ups. But the kidās a star. OāDĆ”laigh worked hard but just had a couple of wides; but still made his runs and made the ball stick. Really impressed with Kirby todayā¦ Iām not convinced heās an inside forward. Today he spent a lot of time out the field too but when he was inside, he did make the ball stick. Including a brilliant piece of play to setup Stokes for that crucial score at the end. Got a load of hooks & tackles in, really impressive.
Another decent display but you do feel thereās another level in them. Weāre a bit light on the bench, I think. Kirby made a big impact but if you had POD & Hego back, youād have serious options between them and the 15 that started. Probably okay for cover in the backs even without Lyons & Mike Keane but just a little light in the forwards (obviously down CON & Lynch permanently).
Good win, Tipp will be a different test in the final.
Clarkeyās young fella
The more I see Coughlan the more I worry about his pace on the turn
We had some support going to those games. Great days.
There must have been 30k at the Munster Final that year. Tailbacks all the way to Dundrum.
The night Kevin Tobinās equalizer shook the Old Kinane Stand to its foundations.
That was a nice jersey.
Tipp had Limerick on the rack one night when the bauld Eoin Brislane saw red.
Great great nights.
That was a great score. Pace was a question mark over him but he showed heās no slouch with that score. Must have been 60+ yards he ran.
He was something else.
Stand was packed that dayā¦ Some hype about that team.
