Aye Laois and Wexford were real statements of purpose.
Imagine this current crop from Limerick trying to handle Shefflin, Fennelly, Tommy Walsh and co.
He got taken out of the forwards because he was on a massive downward curve and wouldn’t have made the team
Neither of them could hold a candle to Joe Fitz
In 2019? That was also a poor standard, similar to now. That Tipp team were way past their best and still won
Tommy Ealsh was a whack it merchant
They and the Tipp general public took the 2013 and 2014 Munster championship defeats to Limerick very badly.
Limerick still did it, without one of the best players in the game and a marquee forward. They showed grit, something the Tipp team couldn’t do.
People genuinely pitting the joint fourth best team of the current century against the decorated and storied Limerick team
The standard of Tipp hurling is awful. Everyone else is just fine.
So you accept the standard now is dreadful and incomparable to say 10 years ago?
That’s your words, in a desperate attempt to make that Tipp relevant or belong in the convo of great teams. They don’t. An average Limerick beat them at ease a number of times.
I didn’t bring up Tipp. Just pointing out that Limerick have never beaten a genuinely good team in their good run, not their fault but the standard is terrible and they fell over the line against poor enough teams this year
How did Tipp fare 10 years ago? I presume they went out in a competitive fashion since the standard was so high? Oh hang on they were bate by 18 pts.
Yes and that same Tipp team would clearly be at least the 2nd best team in the country right now
After the Galway side that took the same Kilkenny team to a replay right?
It’s a pointless debate really, this imaginary best 15.
Limerick only measure themselves against the great teams, the Kilkennys of 2006-2009 etc. The teams they can relate to, who win a back to back and more.
Fell over the line … Limerick did what the had to do every game. Every team this year out their heart and soul into beating an injury ravaged Limerick and couldn’t do it. This Limerick team are the greatest team of all time. They can play it and beat you any way you want. The auld lump the ball forward Kilkenny team would be eaten alive by this current Limerick team. Fact.
Huh? I didn’t mention the Galway team of 2012. The Galway team of 2012 would have beat this year’s depleted Limerick team handily
A much worse Kilkenny team nearly beat ye mate
