Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

Status. There are people ten miles from Adare that use Adare in their address just to pretend to be from there.

Mindbogglingly stuff.I know a woman who used to work in the heritage centre in Adare, she spent most of her days dealing with furious Yanks who were staying miles from Adare but thought when they were booking these places it was Adare cause it was in the address.

A lot of folks out your way claim to be from adare despite thier address being old kildimo

Yeah that’s true, but the Adare parish come down very close to old Kildimo afaik @Aristotle would know better.

I thought it was a good bit further. This map points to what you think anyway

Kilcornan a fine size of a parish to have no GAA Club of it’s own

Adare beat ballysteen, both sides missing a few!!! That group wide open for 2nd & 3rd

Beating Ballysteen by a goal isn’t county final standard.

We were missing a lot too. NCW or whisper it Caseys look to be the two to beat

Were ye minus Danny Neville?

If it’s NCW and Casey’s in the final it would be some occasion

They should play it in Kilarney

Newcastle West is 20 minutes drive from the Kerry border in fairness ffs

Were you at it?

Think that was Danny’s last game before he heads back.

All the O’Mearas were missing, I think.

Adare were very unimpressive against us, we really should have beaten them. They were way off the standard they’d need to be to beat NCW.

We’ll have a quiet word with the parents/kids. It can be a sensitive issue and no guarantee the kids will come and play with us.

It’s always the parents. What’s worse is a couple of the fathers of the kids involved actually played for C/K in the not too distant past, which makes it even more infuriating/puzzling.

For them it’s about “prestige” but it’s just pure snobbery really. As far am I’m aware only one of the kids attends Adare Boys NS.

I’ve known a couple of lads other than Brendan O’Connor who have transferred from C/K to Adare over the last 20 years, only to get no further than their Junior A team.

Adare are suffering lately for the very reason that they are happy to bring in players from neighbouring parishes. So a lad born and bred in Adare gets discontented when he sees someone from Kildimo/Croagh/Croom in the team ahead of him. And despite the vast number of houses being built in Adare, they get very little if anything from the likes of the Manor Fields because in their own words “posh people don’t play hurling”. C/K’s first team are doing well currently and part of the reason is we know what pick we have, it’s a tight knit group. Adare are the opposite.

Adare parish goes right up into Old Kildimo, it starts only a kilometre from Seven Sisters pub. Likewise it stretches far over into Kilcornan, and far down into Kilfinny.
