Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

Do Monaleen have any rural area?

It strikes me as an area lacking identity and community feel.

Correct. Very urbanised and residential

they do yeah, it stretches over in to Ballysimon and Killonan out to the cross, almost back as far as Murroe.

There’s a big divide in the club between that side of the road and the other side of the railway, or at least there was.

Nah, AA have hundreds and hundreds of kids going to them. It’s frightening how big they are

They do.

Fair enough. I thought Murroe/Boher came right into Morrisons.

Its all well and good having “numbers” but without a community identity you are at nothing.

if you took a line from the river straight down longside annacotty you’d get a fair idea. It’s a big parish with lots of houses.

I agree with you, that would be an issue in Mungret too. Dooradoyle and Raheen just aren’t tapped in to in any way

I’ve nephews in school out that way and there is no hurling at all in their schools. They’ve never been allowed hurl at school

Its all about Tradition.

Patrickswell probably a fraction of the population of Mungret/Monaleen and they’ll still probably produce more Limerick Seniors in next 20 years.

you can make your own tradition too bud. that’s a load of auld bollocks

Na Piarsaigh did it. It just takes a lot of hard work

AA?

Aisling Anncaotty… a monstrous sized soccer club

Patrickswell had no tradition until they made it. Think they only went senior in the 60s

Thats because a load of Tipp men went in and showed them how to do it cc @Bod95

The hurling officers can only do so much. Hurling is thriving at the minute. Success breeds success. But its a very middle class pursuit these days, replacing the rugby. Working class places are all soccer still.

A cunt of a club, with Pike they are the death nail for clubs. Caherdavin should join Shelbourne, huge numbers at underage but struggling to field teams from 17’s up. Players going to Aisling and Pike to have splinters in their arse is a joke.

speaking from my own experience there was no real effort put in, at least not in my area and the surrounds to get lads out hurling. My auld lad hurled and he tried with us but you’d go up to old christians and be flogged around the field by boggers born with a hurley, with some misfortune of a fella out to make sure we didn’t maim anyone

Southill to Ballinacurra is an absolute goldmine for athleticism. Absolutely wasted
