Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now šŸ

The big 4 have had a ā€˜dietā€™ of playing eachother for years and no one knows why the rest cant catch up them :grinning:

Its the same in inter county football since it went Divisions 1-4.

Ronan Fox, heā€™s been alright this year. Scored a couple of points today apparently.

For the player, 5 games is great. I do agree that 4 teams from 6 is probably a bit much but we had a problem before with the gulf in quality and the Championship is way more competitive now. The B group was top class this year, serious competition. And weā€™re really looking forward to the A group, itā€™s a way to test yourself against the very best.

Groups of 4 is only good if you have an 8 or 16-team Championship imo. 3 groups of 4 is shit because you either have 3rd place teams qualifying (which is even worse than 4 out of 6 qualifying) or youā€™re only allowing 1 second-place team which is really open to luck if youā€™re going off score difference or something.

It would save everybody a lot of time if the Corks and Tipps just referred back to the last time they took an online hiding after questioning the box office Limerick hurling championships.

Everyone agrees the Top 4 in Limerick are class but the standard drops off thereafter.

Why do you care ?

Iā€™d go and see a few matches in Limerick down through the years as they often fall when there is a football weekend in Tipp.

Havenā€™t bothered this year with that format, am sure thereā€™s others like me.

Thatā€™s why I care.

The standard is rubbish in tipp and nobody goes the games.

The standard is high in Limerick, the crowds are up and weā€™ve an incredible inter county team.

Thereā€™s nothing wrong with the format.

Good win for the juniors this evening @Aristotle.The goals were crucial.

I donā€™t think any team in Tipp would beat NAP in top gear, probably not Kilmallock either.

After that, Patrickswell or Doon would struggle to win the very competitive Tipperary SHC. There is a small gap between teams 1-16 which builds a healthy championship.

I think kiladangan have the potential to reach Kilmallock standards.

Crowds at club games in Tipperary have always out numbered Limerick club matches. Iā€™d say they might be roughly the same now due to Limericks success. This is at a time when Tipp are at a low ebb and ye have never been higher.

the tipp county champions have been routinely embarrassed in the Munster club.

Itā€™s laughable thereā€™s 16 senior teams in tipp and probably a major reason why tipp are struggling at inter county level.

Is it a 3 week wait for senior quarter finals .

2021:
Loughmore should have beaten Ballygunnar last year if it wasnā€™t for Johny Murphy.

2020: covid

2019: Borris won Munster club

2018: clonoulty werenā€™t interested

Thurles Sars regularly underachieved before that, nothing to do with the structure just they didnā€™t like the wet ball. Prob the best summer club team in the country at that time.

Iā€™m simply pointing out team #10 in Limerick wouldnā€™t get near team #10 in Tipp (or Kilkenny, Galway, Cork).

Who cares ?

Who cares what anyone says on TFK?

3 groups of 4, top 2 straight to semis, 3, 4, 5 and 6 play 2 quarter finals. Bottom 2 in relegation. Be cut throat. Works well in Cork.

The funny thing is that since Limerick started winning at Inter County their club teams have failed to fire at all in recent years.

Kilmallock, Patrickswell and Na Piarsaigh trounced by Ballygunner by an aggregate score of 26 points in in the last three Munster Championshipā€™s.

In the same time period a Tipp club has beaten BG fair and square, with BG winning the other tie narrowly vs 13 man Loughmore.

Of course the standard drops off. The top 4 are exceptional teams right now. Adare, Ahane, K/P and liberties are fine teams in their own right. Senior B is very competitive and there could be an upset in a quarter final

Nap won the 2018 club final and Limerick won the all Ireland.

Gap is much closer now than before. A few clubs have improved and nap arenā€™t as dominant as they once were either. Gap will only get closer.

Adare falling off is worrying, but other than that senior is in great shape. Ballybrown and K/P will breakthrough.
