Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

It’s only natural. Not many young people can afford to buy houses in Adare and that is reflected in their sports teams.

I can only assume castleconell is full of old people. Ahane aren’t what they once were.

These things are cyclic anyway. K/p have a chance to win a senior title in 2/3 years if they get some luck

Na Piarsaigh were hammered in the 2018 Munster Club Final. They sacked Beary afterwards

They won it the year before.

They’re flogging the shit out of the county men sure. Its hard to get up for club after winning all Ireland’s surely.

The 2018 All Ireland Club final was played in March 2018 before Limerick became successful.

Limerick won the All Ireland in August 2018.

Ballygunner hammered Na Piarsaigh in the 2018 Munster Club Final in November 2018.

They won by 6 points in a dour affair

A 6 point win in a low scoring Winter hurling game is a hammering. They were outplayed in pretty much every position. I was at it.

I was it it too. Na piarsaigh missed a couple of goal chances at the end.

They dominated the first half but a penalty from sok had ballygunner a point up.

Na piarsaigh completely misfired and still could have won

Na piarsaighs main players hadn’t had a break in 2 years

Its fucking glorious that a tipp man has to lean on a wateford club team to try and run down Limerick hurling

I was in Cappamore today for the relegation battle between Murroe/Boher and Caherline. It’s Caherline who will be facing Kilmallock 2 in that decider as they were pretty much obliterated by M/B this evening.

A real ‘what if’ campaign for Murroe/Boher: absolutely shocking performances in their first two games, turned it around after the break but were unfortunate to lose to Na Piarsaigh in a game where they were probably the better side. They have now racked up two massive scores in the final two games and just seems like an awful waste.

Their resolve was tested early in the first half when James Enright did rattle in an early goal. But where those kind of setbacks seriously rocked them back in the first few games, they responded excellently today and banged in two goals of their own before half-time. Their inside forward line had the Caherline full-backs on toast all throughout; Mikey Ryan (M) has had a great season, and he roasted his marker and finished well on the angle before Eoin Hourigan, the only change from last week, did similar and batted home.

Andrew Brennan caught some great ball for Caherline but they were struggling to get scores from play. Murroe/Boher were slick and popped over some great team scores; Mikey Ryan Ned was on fire and Dylan Sheehan also popped over three points from play in that first half. It was two of the younger lads who really stood out for me: Euan Sheridan at corner-back (although he found himself all over the pitch) and Brian O’Keeffe at wing-forward who put in a huge shift. They led 2-14 to 1-07 at half-time

It pretty much continued in the second half, Eoin Hourigan got their third goal, his second and they just continued to pop over the scores. Caherline began to hunt scores and James Enright did bat one home after a Brennan 20m free was saved, and Brennan himself finished well from close range on the turn. Paudie Wixted had started inside in the full-forward line alongside Brennan but they probably didn’t get enough ball inside to them, and Sheridan did a job on Wixted when he moved onto him. They just couldn’t get past the M/B half-back line of Byrnes, Kennedy & Hourigan and you would think that they could be looking at a quarter-final place if Sheridan & Hourigan had been available earlier in the year.

A relegation play-off for Caherline just after coming up. They’ll be a little sickened, as they drew with Croom the first day, possibly should even have won and Croom are now in a county quarter-final. If it wasn’t for the Sham Flan hat-trick, maybe they could have got a win there now. I think they probably have enough in them to beat Kilmallock, but will depend on confidence levels and how they respond to a fairly hefty defeat today.

Murroe/Boher 3-26
Aaron Kennedy 0-11 (0-9 frees)
Eoin Hourigan 2-0
Michael Ryan (Ned) 0-5
Mikey Ryan (M) 1-1
Dylan Sheehan 0-3
Cillian Byrnes 0-2
Jack Nicholas 0-1
Finn Hourigan 0-1
Brian O’Keeffe 0-1
Diarmuid Byrnes 0-1

Caherline 3-10
James Enright 2-1
Kevin Wixted 0-5 (all frees)
Andrew Brennan 1-1
Conor Martin 0-2
Eoin Nelligan 0-1

Saw two Junior games today

Crecora Manister beating Templeglantine and Castletown Ballyagran beating Killeedy

Crecora by right should’ve been a couple of points up at half time - few very bad frees from C O’N but tidied them up to an extent in the 2nd half

Impressed by how much of a team they are when you’d think (if you didn’t see them) by default they’d be relying on C O’N for everything

Killeedy shocked me with how poor they were in their match and purely rely on physicality. Castletown play nice hurling but when no. 13 was being marked tightly they struggled. He actually didn’t score from play but was their best player

I’d fancy Drom/Broadford (good team) to beat them in their 1/4 final and would fancy Crecora Manister to beat Killeedy

Welcome @TheWinningFormula - good solid report.

Limerick JAHC Quarter-Finals

Crecora Manister v Killeedy

Castletown Ballyagran v Drom Broadford

St Kierans v Kilteely Dromkeen

Patrickswell v Doon

Of the fancied teams at the outset we’ve already lost a couple of the big hitters. Tour, Templeglantine and Pats all exit the championship before the quarter final stage.

Kilteely/Dromkeen possibly the surprise package there considering the seismic loss through injury of Brian O’Grady.

The all-west derby of Drom/Broadford & Castletown/Ballyagran the stand out QF fixture there IMO. That’ll draw a big crowd to Feenagh, Coolyroe, Ballingarry, Croagh, Rathkeale or wherever it’s played.

Who do you fancy to win it out. There’s none of them spectacular IMO. Anyone one of them, could be anyone of the others. I’ll go with these four for the semis
Crecora
Drom
Kierans
Doon

I’ll go for Kierans to win it out

Crecora seem to be a club on the rise. Is there a big increase in population in recent times ? They’ve big numbers at younger age groups too I hear.

Very difficult to pick out a winner there. Kierans have the final experience from last year under their belt, which can only stand to them.

Patrickswell seem to be motoring well. Very wide open overall.

Two big wins in a week for Castletown, that QF with Drom will be a humdinger.

They have had a huge influx of upper middle class types which these days is the key demo for GAA clubs. They are the parents who will get involved, have the money to support the fundraisers etc

Can’t afford Adare types

That wall of theirs must have cost a fair few pound

The spiritual home of Ballyagran is under the west board banner…

What a load of shite :joy:
