Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

In what regards ?

They’ve a lovely set up there, good spot to watch a match

Cathal O’Neills age would have gone through a few different amalgamations with various neighbouring clubs if memory serves me correct, Kilpeacon (crecora & fedamore i think), & Tory Gaels (Crecora & Croom).

Id love to see this huge influx of new neighbours! You could go to any Crecora game now and it’s the same stalwarts there as it was when I was a nipper at hurling camps up there.

They’re probably always had a decent enough population, the problem would have been losing players to the surrounding teams. Look at Kennedy, the Duffs, Coughlan; there’s probably plenty of others at underage level.

C/K had a similar problem but one really good crop has bolstered them from being a below-average junior team to one of the favourites for Intermediate.

I had been there in years but it’s a right set up now. I sort of had in my head they were tiny club who were struggling but looks like they are on the way up now as a club.

If Drom win at the weekend one of them will have to be changed :grimacing:

Jesus ye won’t leave a drop of Coors in Nellies

The amalgamation with Croom was before CON’s age group. The Kilpeacon amalgamation was his era alright. It is always a tricky issue for a club our size in whether to play 12/13 aside or C grade ourselves or attempt to play A or Premier in an amalgamation. It’s hard to know which option is better long term for a club.

Even before those lads left, Croom has been picking up a few lads of us in the late 90’s early 00’s when we were a Junior B outfit. Being honest we were a rabble back then.

I heard a man say for Ballybrown and patrickswell to compete with kildimo/Pallas they’ll have to join up.

I’d imagine it would be easier to get Palestine and Israel co operate.

Amalgamation is going to be a part and parcel of it going forward for a lot of clubs.

Adares underage teams have been poor for the bones of two decades now…its a miracle that they are still senior to be honest…they were dependant on recruiting hurlers from ‘smaller’ clubs around them for a while but that has dried up too apparently given the rise in fortunes of kildimo/pallaskenry and croagh/kilfinny are impressive too. I think they are in big trouble.

Crecora and Liberties were amalgamated at most age groupsfor the last few years up to last year. CON lined out with Liberties/ Crecora at u20 last year.

Well that’s not true; Ballybrown have massive numbers at all age grades. They probably have a bigger population alone than both villages together, and it’s only growing.

Can’t see themselves and the Well joining up in the near future.

Ah I’m sure he was joking tbf. There is a lot of newish housing estates in Ballybrown so they should see their numbers increase I guess. Don’t think the well are as well fixed numbers wise.

I’d imagine both clubs would fold before they’d join. I think they tried to enter a joined up football team ten years ago or so underage and it didn’t work.

The Well’s numbers wouldn’t be as good but, at the same time, they are still producing some quality individuals.
