Limerick GAA - All-Ireland senior hurling champions 2018

Exactly. The main point of monitoring and tracking these things is keeping an eye on the different loads players are capable of. X player might be able to run all week whereas Y player picks up injuries after whatever distance. I don’t know if it’s available in game but over a season they’ll have built up a very strong picture of what each player is capable of and when they hit their max. Obviously things will have to change in game and injuries will affect plans or numbers of subs available or going down to 14 will affect it as well. Sure if I said up Bumbles would say down.

Not sure about GPS but from talking to someone on the periphary of things the management have access to real time stats in game looking at lads overall performance and the guy marking them and that certainly informs some of the subs decisions

Another howler. Classic Bumbles.

I was involved in taking stats for a while and at a lower level obviously than Liam McCarthy,

the things that were tracked were duels, shots, shots against. fouls, tackles, errors (basically bad first touch).

You’d have a lad in the stand marking each stat and on the talkie walkie down to the line. the feedback was and wasn’t used depending on the line and what they saw, but it was definitely a contributing factor

Define stats. Lads were talking about individual sprints etc etc. I’m not talking about wides or assists.

Gentlemen, the GPS readings have no bearing on substitutions.

Clare footballers monitoring these things in game anyway. They’ll have a strong idea of how many sprints a player has in him, if he hits that number and then top speed or distance per minute starts to drop then boom he’s whipped. Limerick hurlers will have a lot more budget than Clare footballers so I expect they’re monitoring heart rate etc as well.

Thank you for clarification. The subs do look a little predetermined to me but totally at odds with gps based decisions. Hayes set season highs v Tipp(with little hurling done) and likewise Tom M v Cork. Neither were subbed off.

Absolutely none? Based solely on managers reading of the game from the sideline? Shocked if true.

why are you so smug? sure you said the stats weren’t available real time.
Elvis must have serious credentials to know this level of information.

like @glasagusban i’d be shocked if this data was available and budgeted and wasn’t factored into the decision making process.

This setup is very methodical and calculated. No stone left unturned etc etc.

You’re a needy little fanny all the same.

I propose a ban on the ‘I heard so & so was flying at training’.
Jaysus but its getting to a stage where they could sell tickets for the training matches. Just read Martin Kiely’s article on the leader and he says he was surprised Barry Nash wasn’t involved as ‘he was flying in training’.

If Declan decides he is ready for sunday I presume WOD drops out. I watched the second half a few times but only got around to the first half last night. Dan Morrissey actually played much better at 6 than he was playinh on the wing. Was caught a few times before Hannon went off. I don’t think WOD done enough to get ahead of him though. I suspect Casey will be on the bench and Murphy will start. Pat Simon is the perfect sub really so I’d be surprised if he gets in ahead of him. Will Nash get in ahead of the Dow? or mayb POL back instead of Condon?

Declan will decide fuck all. Declan isn’t the manager of Limerick’s senior hurlers.

I meant in terms of being available. If he makes himself available he will be selected.

A great, great tactic to take out an opponent. works a treat. :eyes:
