A current Na Piarsaigh player describing the team selection as âhorsepooâ on twitter wonât help matters.
I think the main reason that there isnât a NAP player starting is simply that JK hasnât has them at training enough. Thatâs nobodyâs fault as they did well to make an All-Ireland club final.
Limerick are playing to a particular pattern this year and the NAP lads havenât been around enough to bed into it. Their time will certainly come before this championship is over.
The new Limerick style is quite clever actually. Based largely around workrate without crowding the middle of the field. Itâs rare that the two are mutually exclusive but Limerick have gotten very good at it. On an opposition puckout, you a have a wing-forward (usually Morrissey) instead of a midfielder dropping into cover. The corner forward on the same side (Mulcahy tomorrow, which is precisely why heâs been picked) drifts out. This means that, if you win the ball back, you have space and options in front of you. Gillane and Flanagan have prospered in this system as both are good at playing from the front.
The downside is that you donât score many goals with it as there is a tendency to turn away from goal to complete the final ball. I feel that weâll need a couple of goals to get through tomorrow. If the two inside boys get 1 v 1 with defenders they should be encouraged to take them on more often.
Big game needed from the full-back line as those Tipp inside forwards are lethal. Cian Lynch is fast becoming the glue that holds the thing together and, if he hits form, we could see something special. The bench will have an impact and I expect the majority of the substitutions to be forward-based. Dowling and Simon will certainly play a part at some stage. Nash has a knock and thatâs why heâs not on the bench for those who were wondering. I actually think tomorrow is made for the likes of Downes and even though I said months ago that he wouldnât be in the 26 (and was met with derision) heâd be the type of fella who could prosper in this game with some direct play.

Letâs be honest . The Cuala players came back to a team that was struggling and was lacking a spine .
The Na P players were coming back to a team that was doing well and tbh very few of them were undoubtedly better than what was there .

And letâs not forget it was around this time two years ago when a prominent Na pairsigh clubman bitched and moaned about a certain Kyle Hayes being captain of the minor hurling team because he was from a small club. Theyâve terrible attitude for many years towards the limerick hurling set up.
Just to make it clear Iâm from Weston and have no affiliation to na piarsaigh. I went and supported them as county champions same as I did the well and kilmallock. This kind of poison is why Limerick will never achieve.
Serial winners on the bench or not in the 26 or 33 stinks.

Strong adjective mateđ¤ if it wasnât for NaP hurling would be dead in the city. You should be grateful as a so called Limerick supporter for the players we are supplying to county teams.
Na pairsigh need to realise thereâs more to limerick Gaa than the Gaelic grounds and ard scoil ris. Hopefully all the starting fifteen see this tweet and drives them on further to play great on Sunday and no Na pairsigh sees action on Sunday. regardless if you have none on the panel or ten on the panel every club should respect the senior hurling managers selection.

Iâm astounded the official Na pairsigh page endorsed this tweet. What a horrific slight on the players selected on Sunday. The players that led us out of division two for the first time in seven years this spring. That beat the all Ireland champions in their own ground and drew with Tipperary down in thurles. Your club has shown its true colours today.

The only team to bring a senior all Ireland to Limerick in generations should be happy theyâve no representation on a second tier county team? Because thatâs what we are. Weâve fuck all done to be able to ignore a club that produces Winners. Thatâs what these lads are and thatâs why na piarsaigh dominate. Winners are generally horrible entitled cunts when you are like everyone else looking up at them.
Sure werenât the well despised when they were on top.
