So, the TFK roll call - who is heading up to Carlow tomorrow?
Going to try and be parked up by 2.30 and in a beer garden by 3 somewhere to watch Ing-er-lund. Probably a couple of hours of a drive if not more from Limerick city.
Most of the team pretty much picks itself at this stage. Itās Richie, Mike Casey, WOD and Graeme Mul who are the lads who really need to impress to nail down a spot for the following week. I think the other 11 starters are pretty nailed on at this stage.
Tough on the lads who are dropped from the bench but that has always been JKās way even going back to when he was over the 21ās. Keeps lads on their toes anyway.
The semi finals are on the same weekend (July 28th & 29th). Have a wedding the Saturday, would only be too happy to have a clash that day if it means we are still involved in it, though.
Donāt go into Portlaoise town. Take the next exit for The Heath and take the first exit off that roundabout as if youāre heading back into Portlaoise from the Dublin side. About 600km down that road thereās a left turn thatāll bring you out onto the Stradbally road.
Down to Wille Clancy for the weekend, so Iāll be missing it - unfortunately, as Carlow would be an intriguing venue.
Iām a bit surprised at the strength of the team we are putting out here, itās basically full strength aside from injuries and suspensions. This seems to be Kielyās m.o., the team hasnāt changed a whole a pile in the last 4 months, other than tinkering here and there.
Weāll beat Carlow, obviously, but I would be a bit worried that the fizz is kind of gone out of the things and weāll stumble out on a whimper rather than launching a major assault from here.
Weāve had a relatively good year but a quarter final exit would mean the year ends with a whimper.
Promotion was fantastic, getting out of Munster also was excellent but we need to kick on now. As Iāve said previously we mightnāt even get out of Munster next year.
If itās Kilkenny in the QF, we lost to them by three points last year. Really need to show some improvement and beat them in knock out championship. Should we do it a possible semi final against Cork would hold no fears for usā¦
Would expect a fresh, clinical display tomorrow. Get through it unscathed and pile everything into the following weekā¦
There wasnāt room for anything else really, have to run with the team you plan to play next week for a few reasons. One, itās too late for wholesale changes; two, you canāt try out players as youāll learn nothing against Carlow anyway; and three if you start a different team than for next week you risk players being undercooked Iād guess, the players that were poor the last day need to get their confidence up I think, especially Hayes and Hegarty. Surprised at Dowling losing out, clearly I was wrong on that. Donāt agree with it but if we win next week you canāt second guess.
Carlow only 30 minutes from me but its my daughters first birthday tomorrow. Tried to convince the wife that the heavy weight clash of Limerick v Carlow would be more important. I will convince her yet!
