Plus Seamus Flanagan & Kyle Hayes have come in behind that bunch.
We had better win it quick as we dont have much younger players to feed in to the squad after this year.

ah I donât know about that. Youâve Paul OâBrien, Conor Boylan, Brian Ryan, OâShea from Garryspillane. Youâd have OâNeill and McEvoy coming off this years minors.
We only need to replace one or two with the base we have now. A lot of these lads have 5+ years ahead of them.
Hopefully the cycle of getting a great bunch every 10+ years is broken and we can use this bunch as a base and supplement with 1/2 talented lads breaking through a year, instead of depending on 9/10 to come through at a time.
Itâs a good place to be in
If we donât win it this year we may as well drop the whole lot of them and start again with next yearâs under 20s.
Agreed. If we dont have Liam we need something to keep us occupied for the winter
is there much meas in McEvoy in Na Piarsaigh? I was very impressed with him for the minors this year. A great bit of cut about him
This is a real problem going forward and needs looking at despite all the joy . Standards are dropping at underage level. The hope is that the current success might give a jolt to things .
Minors and u21s took trimmings this year .
Are you for real here?
Underage comes and goes ⌠weâve had great teams at both levels over the last few years - all you want is 2/3 lads that can add to a senior panel.
underrage is whimsical. This group got bate in 2016 when they were arguably stronger than 2015.
Itâs more development focused than results focused for me. Or should be
Ah thatâs harsh. We may not see a crop as good as the 13/14 minors again but there are still good players coming through.
Most immediately Robbie Hanley & Eoghan Mac would be good additions.
Is McCarthy out of the picture altogether. Heâd stop dobbers judging by his u21 form.
Heâs out foreign at the moment anyway. Heâs a decent player but itâs a big step up. I think Eoghan Mac is a different class altogether.
are there problems with his application? I heard he wouldnât play in goals colleges and is a bit mental.
Quality player I think. Weâve still a lot of young talent and will be in the top two in the county for a good few years yet, but our representation on limerick underage teams has fallen off a cliff compared to what it was in recent years.
Lads, would ye attribute this yearâs All Ireland win the the âRaising the Treatyâ coaching initiative that started about 10 years ago?
Woulfe, OâShea & OâNeill are the main three. Funnily enough they are all pretty similar.
Boylan is the only standout defender I have seen that might make it.
Could do with a few for the fullback line
Iâm not saying thatâs not true, all those East Limerick lads are a bit touched, but thatâs not what I heard.
Heâs a bright chap, heâs studying Theoretical Physics in Trinity and afaik he wants to focus on getting his degree before giving the big commitment.
And as for playing outfield, Iâm almost sure that he didnât refuse to play there. Trinity arenât overloaded with decent players and had two good goalies.
I am very much for real . Standards are dropping at underage level . The 2016 team were guilty of taking Tipp a bit lightly. This yearâs team was poor taking the seniors out . The minor team this year while admirable werenât great and shipped 3 big beatings .
My point is that work needs done . I accept that we have been blessed with the 1994 - 1996 birth group .
Euphoria ( understandable ) can often lead to ignoring inconvenient truths .
Minors is a bit of an odd grade this year, we topped the group in Munster but then took trimmings in the quarter final play-off stage. Galway will probably win the thing out with their usual trick of dropping into the competition in July.
The U21 game vs Tipp came in a bad, bad week for us. Hummerings at senior, U21 and football all in the space of a few days I think?
Would agree with you on backs. I really like OâGrady from Knockainey as a corner-back. I suppose youâd be looking at trying to get OâMeara, OâLoughlin, Malachy to compete for those positions as the likes of Condon, McCarthy & Hickey move away. Ronan Lynch maybe? Tommy Grimes? ALTC?
You are right to an extent. Standards have slipped. But weâre still in a much better place than we were 10 years ago. But other counties are raising standards all the time, and we need to follow suit.
Look at the likes of Cork, way off the pace at underage but with the minors of 15 & 17 in particular look to be getting their house in order. Kilkenny had all that senior success but definitely let underage standards dip in the interim.
Itâs usually down to the wrong people appointed in these academies, people want to get in on the success but may not be the best coaches available. The likes of Elvis & CCHA would probably know more about it than me. Hopefully Wallace can put his stamp on things.
