Tactically shutting down Fitzgibbon and Coleman is key for Cork. Hayes will surely be placed on Coleman and Iād say O Donovan will be earmarked to shut down Fitzgibbon.
Much better off being on top in the last twenty minutes than the first twenty minutes.
Also your completely wrong because Dublin missed four handy scores in the opening twenty minutes and gave away two very silly frees.
By your logic thatās OK though right? The game hasnāt settled down sure.
What Iām saying is you can excuse mistakes in the first twenty minutes of the opening championship game when you look at the overall performance. If the mistakes evident in the first twenty minutes were still happening towards the end of the game Iād be more worried but they werenāt. As Iāve pointed out given how inexperienced the team was I think you are being overly critical. The proof as they say is in the pudding but Iād be extremely confident versus cork weāll be more highly tuned and will give an improved seventy minute performance.
Dublin were completely on top for almost all of last 20 mins and lost the game in injury time
Not against KK. Which was their opening championship game.
I hope we are more tuned against Cork. Weāll need to be. I donāt think itās overly critical, just a bit of balance is all. I was very impressed with the half back line in the second half but felt they got turned in the first.
They seem to be a very together bunch of committed young fellas with bags of potential. Blowing smoke up their holes is no good for them. I wouldnāt be one for excusing things, if itās there, call it. Hopefully they learn a lot from yesterday and use it the next day. Iām sure they will.
The key factors in that game being won by kk were , Keaney injury , a few wides and the Kk subs all has huge impacts .
Have you re watched the game? The half back line was very solid imo throughout. Theyāll take massive confidence from this game.
history lesson.
This was the Limerick side v Clare 2017 MSHC. 6 changes in the starting 15.
LIMERICK: Nickie Quaid; Sean Finn, Richie McCarthy, Mike Casey; Dan Morrissey, Declan Hannon, Seamus Hickey; Paul Browne, James Ryan; Shane Dowling, Cian Lynch, David Dempsey; Peter Casey, Kyle Hayes, Graeme Mulcahy
Subs: Barry Nash for Mulcahy (h.t.), Richie English for Mike Casey (40), Tom Morrissey for Peter Casey (53), Aaron Gillane for Dowling (57), Pat Ryan for James Ryan (57).
Iām talking about positional changes as well maybe I should have been clearer.
I know that so I added some perspective.
Against Cork, I would agree that we need to stop Coleman getting on loads of ball. He seems to have come on defensively, and Corkās support play in defence looks to have improved a lot. Iād expect Kyle to take on this job but all of our half-forwards need to continue with constant tackling when Cork are in possession. Canāt let their forwards get quick ball.
Conlon must have hit 5 from play yesterday and I thought he had a bit of joy running at their backs. Similarly Malone, another big man, but his hurling was too limited to do anything with it. Iād be looking at Kyle, Hegarty & Morrissey to carry it even more against Cork unless an obvious ball inside is on.
Ive given up on this. Marty Morrissey and Donal O Grady are painful to listen to.
Donal o Grady is a wanker but that was a lovley way of describing Sean finn: āhe does a lot of work before the ball comes inā
I donāt mind OāGrady. Marty is an awful twee little pain in the hole though.
Marty described Finn as āa great bit of stuffā. Hard to disagree with any of that.
Nicky is some man to wave points wide alright. Iād say heās just saluting the sliotar as it floats over his head
How far did you get?
