Limerick GAA - All-Ireland senior hurling champions 2018

Limerick have met Tipp 5 times in championship since 2012. 4 points or less was the winning margin in 4 of the 5 matches.

Back us this year as well.

Why throw good money after bad?

I will , each way .

Nearly finished work for the day. Roll on Sunday ta fuck! Work from home Monday and holidays for a week from Tuesday. A night away in Cork awaits when I get back. Ah lovely :beers:

As I have probably said many times on here, you can’t bate the lead up to Limerick’s first game of the championship every year. We usually always need to win our first game to have any hope in showing any sort of form for the rest of the summer. The tension by throw in as it feels like everything hangs on it! It’s the absolute buzz of sheer hope and blind optimism that never seems to diminish. Although this year, we have more than blind optimism (I think). Our first 2 games are daunting though.

To echo @dodgy_keeper lovely twee memories of first attending my first big inter-county championship game…1987…Limerick v Cork and that John Fenton goal. I can actually still clearly remember the goal too. Watched it from the old stand when there was only a roof above the middle section of the stand in Thurles. Other than that I really only remember being VERY excited about going on a real train for the first time in my life with my Dad. It is a proper “match train” too from Colbert station. Loved it.

I will be there again on Sunday with the auld lad along with other family members/family friends sitting together as usual. During the 2000’s it was often a drinking sess away from family but it has become more of a family gathering these days, which is great as people aren’t getting any younger.

The latest weather saying it might not be too bad on Sunday.

Enjoy the weekend folks.

p.s. FUCK TIPP!

It won’t rain on a Munster championship Sunday. God wouldn’t do that to his people

Do you remember the cork scobes throwing the pool ball at Cregan at Semple Stadium in 1987 . The drawn game .

Always be confident.

Vaguely.

I do. I also remember thinking it was a pity they missed.

They wrecked the clock and scoreboard in the Kilinan End that year and destroyed the bird sanctuary down beside the river near the cathedral. Rough crowd on the terraces back then.

I sees Met Éireann are pushing the rain out to the evening at the mo whereas yr.no is giving a good dousing from mid-day on.

5pm, out the gap. The weekend begins here. Hyyyyyyyyup!

Sure look, at least it’ll be warm rain :grinning:

Sounds like the minor hurling set up is a proper joke of a set up.

Unlike the seniors … :beers:

Mentioned it last night, two lads were vying for FB all year one of got injured so you would think the one standing was a cert to start! No they moved the corner back into FB(where he has never played at county level) and drop the other young lad off the panel altogether! Cunts

And pocked a lad to start who has a broken finger

Heard there was a few other similar decisions made

I see Martin Kiely doesn’t think Hegarty will start.

The Limerick way.

These young lads are preparing to be the Seniors of the future. They may as well learn that disappointment and despair awaits.
