Limerick GAA - Box Office

Realistic how?

It’s only been 44 years ffs. That’s fuck all.

Happened near the end of the first half. Hannon surged forward and popped a ball over towards the stand sideline, Hegarty gathered after a bit of difficulty and then broke past his man towards goal. Hannon continued on, only time I saw him go forward, and was in on his own in the middle but Hego popped over his first point of the day from an acute angle, albeit at close range.

This is a slow process and we still have a long way to go.

Nail on the head. The biggest success is finding hayes, Nash and d Dempsey. Forwards who can score and win their own ball. The whole thing is moving in the right direction.

100%.

Anyone suggesting otherwise is delusional.

Now delusion is a wonderful Limerick trait but in this case they’d have to be unbelievably delusional - Liverpool FC levels of delusion.

If we lose to Clare I’m bringing a “Kiely out” banner to the qualifiers

We’ll chip in for a plane with banner altogether.

There’s a couple of things that suggest a bit of light. We only lost the two “competative” games by a goal. We only conceded one goal against Wexford and tbf the weather that day was brutal.
While driving a lot of wides we are still creating the chances.
Yesterday Kiely addressed the puck out issue and it was a massive improvement.
A good 70 minutes against Galway is worth God knows how many challenge matches.
Physicality is still an issue but that will come

In fairness to Teege now, Nash was found last year.

Hannon at 6 if it works out is a major find, and Hegarty at half forward increasingly looks the business. Both are major finds from Kiely, not many, myself included, expected either experiment to work. He has unearthed a good few more too. #kielyknows

Surprised we haven’t seen more of Morrissey.

He’d certainly add physicality anyway and can be direct - Not sure he has enough game intelligence tho - can be quite headless … but as a battering ram he’d do a job.

This is the thing I’d be happiest about though, you have a group of players like Ronan Lynch, Tom Morrissey, Pat & Colin Ryan who probably would have been thrown straight into the senior team in previous years. At the moment though these guys will have to work hard to dislodge the incumbents, along with some older players that are pushing to get their own places back. A few years back there was a big drop off in quality once you got past the best 15-17, but we are building a decent squad now.

Yeah but apparently it was Fitzgibbon what found him in the pub.

Did the under 21’s play Dublin in a challenge ?

No, they played and beat the Cork seniors in the quarter final of the league yesterday.

We have Galway at home in the semi final.

I am a major fan of Gearoid but I think he will be a better halfback.
A few things from yesterday (as welcome as it was)

  • Cork can’t defend for their lives
  • Damian Cahalane was a major loss
  • they were also missing Lehane, Kingston, Michael Cahalane (came on as a sub), These are 3 forwards that would make any team better.

Cork lined out yesterday with only one player capable of handling a man the size and mobility of Hegarty. That was Ellis. When Hegarty moved off him Gearoid prospered.
If Kiely persists with Hegarty at centre forward then we need the likes of Cian Lynch / Pat Ryan/O’Donovan haring around picking up breaking ball off him.
And another thing I hope people took notice of. If Limerick exert enough pressure up front the backs will be fine. It is when our forwards stand up and give Inter-county players the freedom to pick their passes that the likes of Richie Mc get roasted.

Sure they may as well bring Wexford and Tipp over to play the curtain raiser
