Limerick GAA - Box Office

Ah lovely.

Agree with all of that but I wish to point out that Michael Cahalane was very poor when he came on yesterday, he didn’t get a sniff of it. Kingston was a loss. Lehane would be more suited to a Limerick jersey such is his inconsistency. In short, I reckon Cork are shite.

We always win the the Gay lick grounds.

I would have taken a trip to Galway either. We spend enough time in Thurles.

Lehane can seem to do nothing for a whole game will end up with 1-2 beside his name. He’d have done damage against us.

Limerick county board will be fuming at winning the toss.

They’ll have to fork out for bathroom light bulbs and extra match programmes now.

Maybe. Isn’t he playing midfield for UL? Might have been an option for us there. Anyway, can’t see him not starting at half forward for us now.

Cup o’soup sales will be through the roof

I heard there will be a man with a torch stationed at the front of every men’s toilet to aid any lads struggling to find their tackle in the dark.

Also having Dean Brosnan and Bill Cooper on the field before Daniel Kearney???

I can only assume Kearney was carrying an injury. I actually think if Cork discover a bit of fire they could go OK but they abso-fuckin-lutely need Damian Cahalane and Ellis at centre back and the rest of them to step up in defense. They have brought on Luke Meade, Kingston and young Fiztgibbon who would (I believe) be better off out around the middle. With their back to the wall they may just rattle Tipp yet.

Can anyone tell me what happened that kicked off the handbags near the end? Dowling came in with what looked like a fair shoulder and flattened a Cork lad … it all kicked off then… was it verbals or was there a follow up to the shoulder? It was a lovely shoulder .

It was hard and fair, the Limerick way.

Is the 2016 minors looking like a team we could get more players out of than the 2014 minors. Kyle Hayes looks to have quailty also Brian Ryan if included in the mix.

I believe the Cark lads may suggest that Dowling’s shoulder made contact with the chest. Finbarr McCarthy (C103) was going ape over it. cc @Turenne

I believe his older brother (Tom) is back (Edit ; In the country not the panel)

That’s what they said on C103 but they are fairly thick at the best of times.

There are 9 of the 2014 minor panel currently involved with the seniors, with another 3 previously on the panel but now departed. I think it’s realistic that 4 or 5 of them will see Championship action.

I think you’d be doing very well to get more than that from last year’s minors. Brian Ryan is a talented hurler but I’d say he’s a couple of years away from being in contention for a starting spot for Limerick. I would have said that Finn Hourigan was the other real standout player (and Willie O’Meara but he missed most of the year). Conor NIcholas and Jerome Boylan who are still minor this year are very talented too.

Obviously they’re only young lads and plenty of room for improvement, players are capable of surprises- Stevie Cahill from the 2013 minors & Robbie Hanley/Aaron Gillane from the 2014 team probably wouldn’t have been tipped to be involved at senior level at the time (although whether they will make it for Championship is another question).

Both corner backs from last years minor team will play championship hurling for limerick.

What I want more than anything else this summer is to be able to watch Limerick playing hurling at Championship intensity. Which hasn’t happened since 2014. That frenzied hooking, blocking, tackling- that is key to hurling these days. Kilkenny were masters of it, Tipp did it last year; Waterford & Galway have done it in fits & bursts. I don’t think there’s any excuse for not being at that level of intensity. I believe the hurlers are there to do damage, all that will follow if you have your work rate up to scratch.

Obviously very hard to keep it going for 70 minutes consistently and I wouldn’t expect us to be at that level in the league but I hope to God it’s there for the Championship. We’ve been so flat for a couple of years now, we need to up the tempo.

2014 squad may have more players but only Cian Lynch has made break through while Kyle Hayes looks likely to start for championship. 2013 has English, Casey and 2012 had hego odonoghue and Byrne’s. We need a spread from these underage teams but have been disappointed by 2014 group so far but still plenty time.
