Limerick GAA - Box Office

We’ll see who’s laughing soon enough. It’s a sign of fear and limited ambition peaking for the layge

Apples and oranges.

The second best team in the country the last two years, I reckon they’ll go on and win it this year. Also, they are a huge team, didn’t realise how big til seeing them in the Gaelic grounds the other week.

They will or they won’t. It wouldn’t bother me overmuch either way. If they try their best,it’s good enough. I truly believe that the standard of hurling is very very high now, and there are genuinely a few teams could win it.
The bandwagon in Galway isn’t a pretty sight in the city anyhow. People who wouldn’t cross the road to pearse stadium to watch them usually, being more interested in bitching about the parking of people who’ve travelled over from East Galway to support, suddenly become experts, and they always get tickets.

Trying to create a little TFKism for yourself…how twee

That never happened

The misplaced anger and whataboutery is strong in that one.

I wouldn’t mind but I don’t want to fight with any of my online Limerick chums.

We are nearing Championship. There’s no time on here for fucking about being all nice to each other. I want fucking blood, and the sweetest type of blood is e-blood.

When you listen to Liam Ahearne with Dodge on shotgun it’s just like being there. Maybe even better.

John Hanbury’s failure will make @flattythehurdler 's little girl cry.

I would like to wish Wexford all the best in the upcoming year. If it can’t be us getting a run in the championship, getting completely carried away with ourselves before inevitably getting destroyed in the all Ireland semi final, I hope it’s them.

I think in Dodge we have finally found a half decent co commentator.

Liam Ahearn seems very happy these days since he was outed… Must be a fierce pressure lifted off him.

Limerick minor football squad named. @TreatyStones

LIMERICK SQUAD: Adam Costelloe (Banogue), Adam Shier (Ballybricken/Bohermore), Alan Kelly, Sean Ryan (both Athea); Alan Kiely (Claughaun), Calvin Moran (St.Patrick’s), Cian Walsh (St.Senan’s), Cillian Ferris, Jason Daly (both Ballysteen); Barry Coleman, Eoin Kelly, Padraig Power (all Rathkeale); Colm Moran, Eoghan Killian, David Burke, Michael Uwatse, Nevil O’ Sullivan (all Mungret/St.Paul’s); Noel Callanan, Liam Kennedy, Diarmuid Mulcahy, Eoin Burke (all St. Kieran’s); Paul Collins, Karl Moloney (both Crecora/Manister); Jack Fitzgerald (Adare), Jamie Fitzgerald (Glin), James Storin (Knockaderry), Mark Quinlan, James Cummins (both Galbally); Niall McAuliffe, Damien Keenan (both Newcastle West); Rory O’ Brien (Fr.Casey’s)

Manager- John Ryan. Backroom team- Brian Nolan, Cathal Minihane & David O’Connor.

Sean Ryan of Athea was on the panel last year, as was Noel Callanan of St. Kieran’s but that’s it as far as I can tell.

A Banogue player too, can’t remember the last Banogue player to represent Limerick.

I like the cut of that team’s jib, though I hope Captain Fantastic doesn’t just get slotted back in. Hopefully Hannon is fit to take part as well.

Defence wise, barring injury, we will be well able to mix it. Midfield, between the introduction of Lynch, useful outings from Alan Dempsey and Pat Simon the last day, and Paul Browne to come back in, is coming along nicely. In Hegarty and Hayes you’ve two workhorses up front who can take a score as well.

The question, as always with Limerick, is where the big scoring will come from. David Dempsey does look promising. Dowling will probably be played for the frees and is always liable to chip in with a few from play but he’s missing that bit of quickness that would make him truly dangerous. The usual questions persist around Graeme Mulcahy.

Who are the alternatives? Nash is the frontrunner, a lovely cut about him, with an instinct to take his man on, but has a bit to prove yet at senior imo and hasn’t made an impact from either of his two recent introductions. Morrissey blows very hot and cold. Peter Casey is promising but is probably a year or two of conditioning away before he is a championship starter. Colin Ryan would be able to mix it but can be curiously wasteful inside. You get the feeling already that Ronan Lynch will have to work harder than most to make the team. I’ve long been curious to see how forum-favourite and last-minute point-scoring supremo John Fitzgibbon would go nearer goal, as he has the deft stick work to make space for both himself and others, as well as the greediness to take his own score and deputise on frees, but you’re talking about a temperamental beast there.

Without wanting to restart the conversation about tents and buffets, we ain’t got no marquee forward there.

The TG4 highlights were a lot more comprehensive than the ones on RTE. Decent stuff.

Byrnes completely fell asleep for Cork’s goal. Meade just ran through, Byrnes started following him but stopped and Meade found himself in loads of space. Our half-backs need to fully switched on for 70 minutes.

Mulcahy set up a good few scores in the limited highlights, but when you see the ease with which he can go past people in a one-on-one, you’d like to see him try it more often.

Nash probably should have saved our goal, was pretty much straight at him. Still need to work on creating goal chances.

Backs need to get a bit tighter at times, a lot of Cork’s scores came from running down the wing but the Limerick backs were running alongside them a few feet away so they were able to pop the ball over the bar fairly handily.

I think our 2013/2014 exploits of sending out a half forward line to harass the fuck out of the opposition before springing some of the lads you mentioned for the last quarter is the way to go… It will be horses for courses tho and that team is with Galway in mind… Kyle Hayes has been a great find but he’s only a pup and has faded in both games as to be expected with a young fella. We need to use these lads correctly and not have them flogged by 23/24. He has shown he is well able to mix it and will be a great addition off the bench if he’s not started.

Hon Ballysteen.
Great we are starting to regularly produce county panelists again.
Only one from Caseys and two from Newcastle West, would be a surprise?
The big standout there is 5 from Mungret, are they finally on the cusp of converting the numbers into the powerful force they should be? (@ciarancareyshurlingarmy )
