If Kiely wanted to do more experimentation, it probably would have happened in the Cork game. I think from here on out, it will be what he thinks is the strongest team available.
The only players left to potentially come in are:
Tom Condon- Casey was caught a few times by English. Not to say Condon wouldn’t be either, but his injuries have meant he hasn’t really got a chance under KIely so hard to know whether he favours him.
Paul Browne- We all seem to think that Browne will come into midfield. If he’s on form, you’d have to imagine he will. I still think he might go for himself & Jim-Bob.
Barry Nash- You’re right in that he hasn’t really done much from the bench in the last two games. Not sure if he is much of an impact sub. There was bound to be a certain amount of rustiness, maybe catching-up fitness wise but you’d presume he was training with his club at least. I think he might get in, he was one of the favourites during the Munster Hurling League. But judging from 2016, he has what it takes to be a scoring forward in senior intercounty.
Peter Casey- Was named to start ahead of Lynch against Galway before he got injured. Did he miss his chance? Didn’t seem to do much from the bench against Cork. Probably one of those that if he impresses in training, he could get in. Does have serious talent. But would they play him & Mulcahy or is it one or the other?
Judging from the recent selections- Darragh O’Donovan is down the pecking order which I am a little surprised at. I’d rate him higher than Pat Ryan Simon, WOD & Fitzgibbon myself.
If Morrissey was going to start, he would have played against Galway or Cork, I think.
Ronan Lynch isn’t a forward, I don’t see how he makes it unless you desperately needed him for free-taking. Which we don’t.
Gavin will be first sub for the half-back line. Stephen Cahill was an early favourite, could be a useful sub. Colin Ryan could be a decent sub too. And it looks like we’ll be going with Fitzgibbon to come on when the game is looser.
