Limerick GAA - Box Office

Limerick now know their weak links and have the player’s and the time to adjust and could yet make a semi final

Ah, they decided to mark him in the second half.

He’s massive in the middle.

:grin::grin::grin:

It must be the amount of times his fat hole rips his shorts.

It’s not as if Clare were particularly good, the 1st and 3rd goals were disasters to concede. They are a little better at moving the ball into their forwards, they realise they’re quite small and move it well. But they struggled when we actually put pressure on them and hit a lot of wides as a result. Overplayed it a lot too.

You can’t just hand teams a couple of goals and expect to compete. But Casey & Mulcahy hung out to dry again. Not even attempting to play to their strengths. Casey did very well to get the score he did get.

He’s just a showboater. Living off 2013.

Clare were 12 pts better on the day. They have to look hard at why they failed to build a big lead. Keeper was poor and his puckouts helped us enormously.

Finn Hannon hickey hayes held it together for us.
The delivery from morrissey, mccarthy and midfield was shocking. Really missed byrnes for a precise ball to inside.

What about giving Nicky a go at CB? Seems okay to throw lads into every postion bar into the position they play their club hurling in.

Conceding short puck outs to Clare time & time was very naive considering the problem they had winning ball dropping on their HF line.

Bang on the money with that one. Clare were able to work the ball up the field with little or no challenge. Their movement was far superior once they were allowed take the short puck.out.

We are better off in the qualifiers anyway. We would be going cold into a QF if we had won today. Better to get a run of games and let the young fellas get experience. And drop some of the deadwood.

I’m always bang on the money, pal.

Did the stewards let ye park in the Stadium or did you hobble up the road?

Nah parked at the train station. Had a few pints in Bowes and hobbled away

Too slow in midfield and too shy upfront. Clare were happy to play chicken-in-the-middle with us in midfield so long as they didn’t have to take on the half back line. It could hardly have come as a surprise to anyone.

And while Clare can keep the fluid passing game going there is still the inclination from us to either run into trouble or to pop hospital passes around the middle and get swallowed up by opposition jerseys.

All the same they showed a bit of fight to at least stay in the game. We know a bit more about a few players now, and there are a few to come back from injuries etc. Onwards and upwards for the Qualifiers.

Exactly. These young players need games at this level and an opportunity to gain confidence if they can put maybe 2-3 wins back to back. A defeat like this, albeit not a drubbing on the scoreboard, can be a platform to make the required clinical changes to the starting 15. Here is a 15 I would like to see tried the next day out:

Quaid
Finn
English
Casey
Byrnes
Hannon
Hickey
Browne
C Lynch
Dempsey
Hegarty
Hayes
C Malachy
Nash
T Morrisey

Fellas with a cut about them should be in there, we were too nice today. Malachy, English, Nash, Morrisey none of them are too nice. I think O’Donovan should be under strong consideration for midfield too.

Can we cut the bullshit out and have Byrne’s and Hegarty in the half back line either side of Hannon. Let’s get that right first and then move on from there. I wouldn’t be adverse to either English or try Dan Morrissey at full back. Mike Casey …I don’t know . Browne and either O’Donovan or Pat Ryan at mid field. Full Forward is a problem as our young players aren’t ready for that position. Maybe stick Dowling in there on a last chance.

I wouldn’t mind seeing something similar, although I thought Casey was in a lot of trouble today. I don’t know what Condon’s fitness is like but I wouldn’t mind seeing him in again.

I think it’s harsh on Peter Casey too tbh.

Definitely would love to see Malachy brought in, very disappointed he wasn’t brought in today.

Although we definitely can’t take to the field without a freetaker.

Agreed on Mike Casey he is barely in there and another bad day at the office for him today but what is the alternative? Condon? No. Hickey? He would be a good shout in there i suppose and put Hegarty to no. 7 as you say. I would keep Hegarty to the forwards though myself.
