It’s easy to point fingers but simple as Kilkenny worked harder than us on the day. They rattled us by playing us at our own game. We won an AI out of outworking teams, and hopefully will win more through the same values. We were too cocky going into the game again, and Kilkenny despite being less talented, they worked like animals and worked smart. Took us too long to get up to the speed, and you could see our quality once we got ourselves into the game. Looking at it again, Casey Gillane and Mul all had good games and were creative in their play, worked very hard but Kilkenny’s application from the off got them over the line. We didn’t deserve it really on the balance of play. As was mentioned, we were actually nearly dead and buried before Dow’s goal.
No such thing as deserve in sport.

We didn’t do enough to win the game. If we showed the same intensity as usual from the first whistle we would have won handy IMO.
Dowling brought us back into the game on his own with that goal. If Dowling had taken those frees that Byrnes langered wide we’d have had a draw at a minimum. If Dowling had started we’d probably have won.

The last two times dowling started for limerick in championship we were beaten.
You can 20-25 minutes out of dowling at most. If he worked extremely hard on his fitness you could get more maybe.

I’d prefer the player who puts the ball over the bar and in the back of the net to be taking the frees.

The standard TFK response when you’ve been caught out talking nonsense and have no line of reasoning to come back with.
Nobody is saying he should take frees when he’s on. He’s a fella over his career is blatantly unfit. The notion limerick would have won if he started is silly. Our worst performance under kiely came with dowling starting. When dowling starts we usually lose against the good teams.
In fact I’d say we’ve lost 6 games under kiely in championship and dowling has started 4 of them. The only game dowling started and we’ve won of the top of my head was a pudding game against Waterford. To say limerick would have won if he started is wrong and very unfair. He hasn’t played for limerick in a knockout game from the start since about 2014.
