Limerick GAA - it's Box Office - Always Has Been, Always Will Be

So you wouldn’t try and improve him at all? Seems like the Limerick way alright.

Breen never won a puckout in his life mate. How is old Breeny by the way? Is he keeping well?

A kick in the hole is coaching too.

I thought Lynch was alright in midfield. He does do too much fuckacting about, but the speed at which he can get the ball into his hand is second to none. He has vision too, but his decision-making can be problematic.

He’s too easily shackled at wing-forward, I don’t know why Kiely moved him there. If you’re going to play him, you may as well give him free roam.

He does need a bit of coaching, just a bit of direction.

Name one player that limerick improved through coaching in recent memory?

A bloody good question and I think point .

Are you arguing that coaching is pointless?

He is indeed mate.

Are you arguing that it is pointful?

Well its a pretty revolutionary idea that coaching is pointless. It would suggest that every hurling team in the country and pretty much every sport in the World is wasting an awful lot of time and money on nothing

As good a reason as any to stop trying

We need to go back to a three man selection committee with lads just meeting up before the games after cycling for hours to get there.

Richie McCarthy, Tom Condon, Paul Browne, Mike O’Brien, Donal O’Grady, Stephen McDonagh are just a few that spring to mind without thinking too hard. That’s in the last 20+ years.

Maybe don’t even bother with that. Just have a county board controlled whatsapp group issue a “hip and whip” message the morning of the game

Walter Walsh is a great example to any young hurler as to what dedication and being tall can do for you.

Brian Begley another who was hugely improved with coaching

As is Devin toner.
Problem Walter has is as soon as he’s marked by someone as big, he’s in trouble.
He’s a great example of maximising ones talent, but to my mind, he is a yardstick for the decline of the kk forward division. Back in the day, he simply wouldn’t have got a start. No shame in that mind.

He scored a few ridiculous points against us, didn’t think he had it in him.

You knew we were fucked when he was double marked out by the sideline and fired over a hail Mary score.

His hurling has improved dramatically the last few years. I had previously put it down to coaching until glas set me straight about it being a myth.
