Limerick GAA - it's Box Office - Always Has Been, Always Will Be

Theyā€™re not going to bring a corner-forward in for their midfielder sub. Unless DOD starts playing there. Iā€™d say Nash or Dempsey would be the ones to drop out.

DOD himself is also unlucky; if he hadnā€™t got his injury, heā€™d probably be favourite to start.

But Iā€™d have no issues with many of the subs starting tbh; plenty of competition for places there. Half-back would still be my slight worry.

None of our half back line will be found wanting due to lack off application thatā€™s for sure. You canā€™t really ask for anything more than that.

Is Robbie Hanley out of country again?

Heā€™ll be back shortly.

Another man who will be there contesting a place! Himself and Lynch at midfield with DOD or Tom Morrisey at CF,the great thing about this new format is the amount of games and time players have to make the breakthrough to the starting 15.

Pumped now. Working on a team selection for the Munster final.

Surely DOD is the midfield cover. I donā€™t know who heā€™d be a favourite to start ahead of, Browne maybe?

Look forward to this. If you can also include 4 tactical substitutions and the timings we should get another 50 posts out of it.

Heā€™s only played centre-forward this year; and last year was half-forward too. From what I heard, Malachy is the midfield cover, and DOD is only really being looked at as a half-forward. If he hadnā€™t been injured, I think he might have started over Morrissey.

Both good players though, and Iā€™d have no problem with DOD coming in.

Weā€™re on the one road, carrying the one loadā€¦ :ronnyroar: :ronnyroar:

Very different player to any of the half forwards, and Hayes is the centre forward. Played midfield last year v kk. Donā€™t see him as a half forward myself. Iā€™d have him ahead of Ryan for midfield but i think he has a ways to go to dislodge Browne. Did Ryan come off injured v Tipp?

Reach the Munster final with 2 wins and a draw. Beating Clare & Cork, drawing with Waterford and losing to Tipp. Team undergoes surgery as the games progress.

Looks like Na Piarsaigh are trying to keep their Intermediates as strong as possible for as long as they can. No subs used either day, and itā€™s not as if they donā€™t have good players on the bench. Sheppard came on against Ballybrown and got a goal, but apparently he was only a blood sub and played the Intermediate the next day. Not certain on the rules on that, but assume itā€™s all above board.

The 2 Boylans were out at the weekend, so Mike Foley & Kevin Ryan had to come in. Foley had played intermediate the week before, Ryan hadnā€™t. Kieran Daly and obviously Peter Casey have played no games yet; neither has Breen if he does come back at some point.

Itā€™s interesting because I know in some clubs thereā€™s a bit of a divide between the two, and some managers like to bring on subs in large amounts early in the season so that fellas canā€™t take the ā€œeasy optionā€ of playing junior.

Thatā€™s close enough to what Iā€™d see happening as well, Iā€™d sew Downes making that wingforward spit ahead of Dempsey but thatā€™s about right for Croke park

He was wearing number 8, but played mostly at half-forward against KK. A different type of player alright, I suppose but I donā€™t really see any like-for-like replacements. He was absolutely flying it at centre-forward earlier in the year. I prefer Kyle on the wing myself, think it makes better use of his aerial ability but against Tipp, he was employed to shutdown Paudie Maher.

Itā€™s WOD or Malachy (or Hanley if heā€™s in the squad) to put pressure on Browne for now, rightly or wrongly. And no injury afaik, just didnā€™t play well.

Lambs to the slaughter!!

The chances of Hegarty playing half-back are about 0, unless thereā€™s a major, major injury crisis.

Could definitely see Casey coming in in the backs.
Hanley to midfield is a possibility if he is up to speed.

Obviously very hard to call, injuries are likely to be the biggest factor as the year progresses.

Did he? I recall Dowling Lynch Hayes at half forward with Dempsey Hegarty Casey inside, for the most part. DOD was replaced by James Ryan, who played midfield, after about 50 minutes.

Lynch was midfield until Jim-Bob came on iirc. I remember because in the first half, DOD was in front of him for most of it at half-forward. He may have played maybe 15 minutes at midfield, I canā€™t remember off the top of my head, but definitely was at half-forward for most of his time on the pitch and Lynch definitely dropped back.
