Limerick GAA - it's Box Office - Always Has Been, Always Will Be

We need to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal. Should have been about 8 up at half time. Sending off was harsh but probably balances itself as the Clare Ff should have seen red for a sneaky pull.
Overall happy enough to get our with a win.

Have to be happy with that.

Played average with a lot of our bigger names quiet enough but still racked up 3-18. And without exaggeration spurned another five goal chances.

A nice first match to ease into the year after disrupted preparations. Add a returning Peter Casey to the mix - probably our best player along with Hayes - and we should at the very least be competitive with Tipp in the semi final in six weeks time.

Brian Ryan. :clap::clap:
Kyler horsing that Clare lad out of it at one stage in the second half.:clap:
Boylan so effective at times too. We finally seem to be producing lads in various teams who can win it in the air.

Have come out of Cusack Park enough times sickened over the years so pleased enough with that. Mother of God but Clare were deplorable, though. Playing any of Cork, Tipp or Waterford tonight we could have been punished for our sloppiness.

But a win is a win. Roll on Sunday week.

I wasnā€™t that impressed with our lads. Will need to be way better the next day. I wouldnā€™t be reading much into it because Clare were absolutely an atrocious rabble.

I wonder what Paul Kimmage would have made of the half time chat in the Limerick dressing room

Couple of minutes highlights for ye there

Unusually for Ennis the pitch looked in a poor state.

My tuppence worth:

Took ages to get going and the lack of cohesion was down to poor preparation. The game was worth about 5 training sessions that they didnā€™t have.

Flanagan puts in great effort into showing for and winning ball. He has slow wrists though and this will cost him at senior level.

Brian Ryan took some fine scores, Paddy Oā€™Loughlin was going well but faded. Young Flynn put in a decent shift. Oā€™Reilly and Oā€™Connell were a mile off it.

The Clare management were the most inept Iā€™ve seen in a long time. Left Kyle Hayes totally loose and hit ball after ball down on top of him. Taking off a player with 90 seconds left to half-time was humiliating for the young fella.

Philip Kelly isnā€™t related to an inter-county referee. Tipperary have found a worthy successor to Johnny Ryanā€¦

I think thatā€™s very harsh on Flanagan. He isnā€™t getting hooked too often. Heā€™s brilliant at finding a pass too. Lovley vision.

Itā€™s not about being hooked, itā€™s about the ability to strike at speed in close quarters.

His passing is good, in fairness, but more often than not itā€™s when he has time on the ball

I think heā€™s worth persisting with, mate. His ability to win ball that he has no right to sets him apart from most hurlers in Limerick.

Iā€™d certainly persist with him. The lad has done very well to be fair to him and heā€™ll more than likely start against Tipperary. That game could actually suit him as the full-back line is probably Tippā€™s weakest link and he could well profit.

He fairly struck at speed for the goal. Thatā€™s a very harsh assessment imo.

Again, he had time on that occasion.

Also, he actually scuttered the ball into the ground and it was the deflection off the defenderā€™s leg that took it in as the keeper looked to have it covered.

Is he a son or a grandson of John?

John is his father.

Phillip Kelly is a prick . He has screwed some limerick teams down the years.

If his his brother was a small bit stronger heā€™d make a mighty intercounty corner back!!

Fine hurler. Hardy boy too.

Cut from the same cloth as Johnny!
