When was the last time a team with no all ireland medals in their squad beat a team with all Ireland’s medals in their squad in an all Ireland final? When Clare beat cork I don’t think either team had an all ireland winner in their squad. Likewise last year galway had none but Waterford has none. Tipp in 09 had Cummins and a few more.

Limerick Senior Hurling Team Management Statement re: Richie McCarthy
Following a scan this week we can confirm that Richie has suffered an ACL knee injury playing with his club Blackrock last weekend which will require surgery in the coming weeks.
The Management Team, backroom team and entire panel of players wish Richie the very best in his recovery and ensure him of our fullest support in the months ahead. We have every faith in his ability to work through this challenge and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch with Limerick and Blackrock in 2019.
At least he has his medal. Hard to see him come back from that.

I’d say that’s the end alright … Tho these ops and recovery are much, much better than they ever were but for a guy that wasn’t the most athletic in the first place and is 30? hard to see … Tho if every thing goes alright he could be back training in Jan/ Feb depending on when the op is
He came back on after the first injury and went back down with the first ball in. Huge blow for Blackrock. Already had a poor start, that won’t help.
