Limerick GAA - knocked down, but will get up again

Have Doon overtaken the Well and Kilmallock?

Yes. By a distance.

Doon are the limerick of the club championship.

Time will tell . They have 4 county panelists and have a serous scattering of underage county hurlers . If they don’t reach a county final you have to wonder if they are really progressing .

They have one major disadvantage

Their 4 county players are all 23 or less. I don’t think it’d be the end of the World if they didn’t win one in the next couple of years

Go on ?

Trouble is the # 3 county players from 8 up have yet to show that can be X factor players at club level . English is a really brilliant defender .

They are all mad bastards and are as likely to turn on themselves as fight their opponents

In addition to the 4 county lads they have Dean Coleman up front

That’s the Tipp in them.

Is he gone? His brother played in goals the other day.

I was in Knocklong at the weekend, hadn’t been there since I was a young fella.

Lovely setup they have out there- two big pitches, stand on one, full floodlights on the other. Small enough dressing rooms but still… Then you have the Galtees on one side, and the trains on the other.

I’d say the last time I was there was when they opened the first field around 80/81. We played All Ireland Champions Galway.

I’ll be shouting for doon anyway. Hope they make the breakthrough. Is Mike fitz still around?

Playing with their Junior As AFAIK, they’re in the Junior A County Semi Final. As are their Junior Bs! Some club!

They won their quarter final without him as he is injured.
