Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

Hegarty wont cut the mustard at senior inter county hurling.

Striking is way too slow…

Ya it has been said before around here he takes an eternity to strike and clear a ball, he would be hooked continuously like a fish in a barrel.

Incorrect.

He is only a young fella FFS striking is one of the easiest things to improve. The ability to actually win ball is something severely lacking in this team.

I hope i’m wrong but Byrnes is the only one of the U21 HB line that is up to making it at senior level the other two have too many question marks over them.

i confirm you are wrong Hegarty will make it when he gives up bog ball

:unamused:

I like him, but he needs to be playing regularly at a decent standard and as you say, give up IC football…Not sure he wants to?

If it comes down to an ultimatum he will pick the hurling but at the moment that does not exist. Plus the fact he has little or no chance at the moment of making an impression with the hurlers due to his hectic schedule means that ultimatum or choice is not necessary. TJ will make the choice for him by having to drop him when the Na P lads return as he won’t have any impression made.

I hope he does but he wont, he would get annihilated against Tipp, Wford, Clare let alone a TJ Reid or Richie Hogan! All the best teams have their forwards working like trojans hooking, blocking and generally being a nuisance to their markers and the likes of Hegarty would turn over ball after ball to it which makes his initial aerial ability redundant to me.

What question marks?

Agree.

No one expects him to break through this year anyway. Next year Kiely may reckon it will be worthwhile putting the work in to him.

And still he’d be an improvement on a few of our recent/current half back candidates.

It’s widely known hegarty and John riordan are on the hurling panel to fuck over the bog ball crew a little bit more.

Nothing to do with the fact that they are the two best hurlers at Junior grade in the County? Lest we forget that Damien Reale and Tom Condon came from the Junior Ranks before leading their clubs up a grade or two. However, it is easy to dismiss these fellows as not being good enough when we have not seen them at this level yet.

They may very well not be good enough, and thats fine. They are up against it to make it as it is. But they at least deserve a chance if they are on the panel.
