At this stage we have fuck all to lose. ā¦
Heāll be used sparingly at 14 and at half forward taking over from Dave Breen/Pa Begley. He isnāt near the level.
S. O Brien, D. Morrissey, S. Hickey, P. O Brien, Gavin O Mahony, Barry O Connell, D. Brynes, R. Lynch and Wayne Mc have all started games in the half back line over the various league games and we still havenāt a fucking notion of probably 2 of 3 half backs come championship.
Did he not win at the bleep test?
John Kiely tried him in the forwards at U21 level. It didnāt work. He could do a great job in the half back line esp if you are playing either R Lynch or Gav. He would add a physical presence
ffs the bleep test? Come on. He started purely because when Limerick played the dubs he came on to win a puckout and nailed liam rushe in the process.

Fuck all point having a physical presence if you canāt hurl spuds to ducks. He hasnāt the hurling.
A point of sanity before I jump back into the wonderful madnessā¦
The term sweeper is a misnomer for gaelic football and hurling. The extra back is to be used as a playmaker, as a second tackler when you have an opponent bottled up or a dangerous runner breaking through and a kickout outlet in football. Swanning around to hit some badly placed opposition ball is a waste of everyoneās time and effort. It is when the opposition plays good ball that the spare player is required.
This will not be news to anyone properly running an intercounty side or a decent club team.

Outstanding. Obvious, but some donāt get it.
Lynch is an example of an early 2000s sweeper when teams dropped a man back and he just stood in between 6 and 3. Mopping up lose ball. Barry o Connell(21s) and Alan Dempsey (lit) performed the modern role with fantastic results for their respective sides. Ronan is an exceptionally talented hurler but would be better served in the half forward role for the time being. Give him a chance to find his feet at this level.

Correct
He has loads of ability he just needs games. I have seen him since he was at schools when Limerick Minor management wouldnāt pick him. If he is played consistently at half back he will make it. He is extremely dedicated and minds himself all year round. I have seen him since his days at Castletroy College where he was ignored by the Co minors. He has played litlle or no hurling bar 1 year Fitzgibbon. Give him loads of games and now that he is concentrating on one game he will come on tons.
The year is mapped out already, probably raise a bit of a gallop in thurles before being beaten, win a game in the qualifiers before coming a cropper against one of the 7 teams ahead of us at this time. Wouldnāt suprise me to see the cb try to hold onto TJ as heās a good yes man to have, heāll have to go though and weāll have another few years trying everyone of the 21s under Kiely and then Carey or vice versaā¦ Rinse and repeat just like the last 30 yearsā¦

What happened for the 13 years before that?
We held onto the lads that won one and flogged them till they were nearly 40.
Yo are just a jealous Claughaun cunt
We will rise again.
Moving onto more pressing matters. The county board have made a complete mess of the county championship again. Playing 3 games in May is killer for clubs with many lads doing third level exams and leaving certs being pulled to focus on their exams. Itās also leaves any decent club hurler an easy option to head to states for the summer as there is fuck all point staying around for one game over 3 months. The smaller clubs will suffer again. It could also effect the 21s too as many might also choose to head away as opposed to staying around.

I have to agree. 4 weekends in a row for a dual players coming up. Then a further round of hurling two weeks later on the same weekend as Munster senior & junior football championship v Clare. And to cap it off, no more championship for 3 months execept for football championship on the August weekend.
