Hence if you use Cian Lynch correctly, he can provide the right ball for them. He has brilliant awareness for whats going on around him

Wallace looks set to get the Limerick job.

The best coach in ireland. A huge coup for Limerick.

Limerick for Liam 2016.

Winner.

Every place on that senior hurling team is up for grabs.
There are very few who have a place nailed on. I’m struggling to name one who “has to” start.

Cian Lynch and Nicky Quaid.

Jim Bob and Paul Browne

I think Jim Bobs days are numbered.

Are there no other credible contenders to Quaid? He plays his club hurling out the field?

Did anyone see Dalys article in the Examiner today? What an absolute cunt. ‘‘Jerry Wallace and Brian Ryan did huge work with a lot of these players at minor level over the last few years and, under Joe McKenna’s stewardship, there was a huge correlation to Saturday evening’s success. There is a huge desire and also ambition driving everyone forward. And a real love of the game.’’

Kip Killigains shortcomings were badly exposed and it was hawkeye that saved him. The following year he almost fucked away Munster by ensuring his own son would be on the stand.

Daly is now officially a souptaker.

Ffs, some lads losing the run of themselves here. Ok, we were abysmal this year but calling for the likes of Hickey, POB, Condon, Hannon and Downes all to be dropped - or suggesting they should be omitted - is lunacy. They are some of our best players! And all with years left in them. We should be building the team around those lads.

We’ve the bones of a competitive squad. 12 months ago it was about how we could kick on and win the AI after rattling Kilkenny. Now people want half the panel cut. Total over reaction.

The panel does need a shake up but Christ you can’t drop 6 or 7 first choice lads all at once and throw in a load of teenagers from the u21 team who’d be eaten alive in the physicality stakes against seasoned intercounty players with years of conditioning behind them. That’s what killed us around the turn of the century when lads were dropped prematurely because there was a clamour to throw in all of the 3 in a row crew.

Personally I’d like to see just three or four of the u21’s promoted this year - most of them just did the Leaving Cert this year! - and replacing lads who’ve been around the panel for a few years and who, I hate to say, are just not intercounty standard and barely impress for their clubs.

I hold little enough hope for 2016 but no doubt when February rolls around I’ll be convincing/deluding myself that we can have a good year.

Hannon needs to be left on the sideline to straighten him.

No Eoghan Mc the minor keeper and sub 21s keeper will be the long term keeper I think. He is outstanding.

People always give out about Quaid playing out field but effin are a small club and without him outfield they’d struggle against a lot of intermediate sides. He is a great hurler for him and one of the most consistently outstanding players in the shc.

Jerry Wallace will have him hopping just like he did 2012.

What have Hannon and Downes done in recent years to merit automatic inclusion? Downes has done very little since his debut season and doesn’t seem to have developed as a hurler. Hannon while playing well in 14 did nothing this year and at times looked completely disinterested. Obviously it would be super to have to both of them hurling to their potential but at the moment you’d have to say their places are up for grabs.

I disagree. His attitude needs serious adjustment. A fong up the hole is needed.

I think some of those players are nearing the natural end Dk.

That doesn’t necessarily need to be done by dropping him. He needs confidence. Wallace will restore this.

I think Cian Lynch ironically enough (considering he is the newest) is the only guy who should be considered a nailed on starter for us.

At the start of last year i’d have said Hickey was nailed on after a super 2014 particularly but last year he was as bad as anyone for us. Seemed at times like his bottle had gone. Maybe he just needs a new pair of boots for 2016.

Regarding Quaid he has a few young lads nipping at his heels. McCarthy had a great year in goals for the U21s while there is also the young lad from Doon showing big promise. A year too soon for both of them though so Quaid will stay where he is injuries notwithstanding.

Everyone (bar Lynch) need to show from the get go next year that they deserve a place on the team. Regards the team they need to start with a clean slate. I’d keep the starters from 2015 but they all need to prove their worth. There are peripheral squad players around a while who if they have not broken onto the team in 2-3yrs need to be moved aside too for these U21s coming up.

Hannon would break your heart at times but he has the ability. On his day - which admittedly is all too rare - he is one of the best players we have. This is where good man management comes in to coax displays out of him. Ronan lynch was hauled off for the u21’s early against Tipp. No drama, sub made and straight away at full time Kiely was over to him saying “we took you off because you weren’t working hard enough. Use it as motivation for the next night.” Promptly went on to win MOTM in Ennis.

Downes has been fucked about from pillar to post under various managements. Full forward, corner forward, wing forward, the bench - find him a position where he can deliver. I really think he is a classy player and apart from his debut season his intercounty career has been very disjointed. Quick, strong, intelligent - he’s a lad who can develop into a leader for us.
