Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

It’s ridiculous at this stage. They were told 3 weeks ago they wouldn’t have the light to play games at 6:30.

Only one game priced up that I could see last night. Ballysteen V NCW.
Evens your pick.

It’s the front room the problems are Joe

If Hegarty isn’t involved at a decent level he can forget about it… His striking is average at best and if left to his own devices I doubt he will be seen again.

The limerick way…

What the fuck is tom condon flaking a young lad going to achieve? Fuck all.

This is true. Don’t forget Joe Quaid either.

Is that what you took from what I said? :smirk:

Also it will be a huge failure of the management if only 2 or 3 feature.

Watch the senior championship in the next few weeks and see who are the standout players. Then pick your panel.

The variance in views on some of the players is interesting. Nailed on starters are few for next year, Gavin, Dowling, and Quaid for me. Quaid either in goals or outfield.

Hickey had an awful season by his standards but I don’t think he was fully right. He was phenomenal in 2014, you only need to look at the how he completely dominated this year’s HOTY elect TJ Reid -that’s the level he is at, I expect he’ll get back to it. Downes has disappointed but I still have massive faith in him to come good, injuries, poor management and being shifted around from pillar to post have held him back. Hannon was incredibly frustrating this year and can have fewer excuses than Downes IMO. Still think he’ll come good. Richie’s dip in form was overstated, he stays. Browne and Jimbob, not past it by any stretch but places their places up for grabs for sure. I see Condon and Paudie struggling to keep their places.

Byrnes, O’Connell, English, Morrissey, Nash, Lynch, Pat Ryan would all come into the senior panel for me. Strong case too for for a few more.

The 21s have set the template for how the seniors need to set up which I think is dictated by having a player like Cian Lynch. He plays third mid, mids and half forwards can sit deep and 6 can sit deep.

All the 21s above have potential to start for the seniors. Quaid should be looked at outfield now, Gavin at half forward is a good option, Alan Dempsey should be involved, Tom Ryan too maybe.

Quaid/Murphy

Hickey
Richie
Dempsey/English

Byrnes
Quaid/O’Connell/Gavin
O’Connell/Gavin/Wayne

Seanie O’Brien
Tom Ryan/Jimbob/Browne

Hannon and two of Downes/Gavin/Reidy/R Lynch/Morrissey/Breen

Downes/Mulcahy/Nash
Dowling
Cian Lynch

Take of your na piarsigh tinted goggles :grinning:

We’re the bestest

O’Connell won’t cut the mustard.

I love the way Mulcahy gets a free ride and Tobin is rail-roaded …Mulcahy has done nothing in a Limerick shirt.

O’Connell needs to improve his speed but I think he has everything else.

Mulcahy flatters to deceive sometimes but is a super player. If it was a straight choose between him and Downes, which it might be, I’d go for Downes.

Like last year, yeah.

O Connell will cut the mustard.

A blip.

Ridiculous nonsense posted there, where to start with it.

Hurling with a bad junior club won’t do him any favours long term. He should probably look to move to Adare or even the Well if he can.

They’ll be premier intermediate next year. It is that short termism that is really killer in Limerick gaa.

O’Connell was poor v Galway and I didn’t think was anything great against Wex…A typical Limerick hurler in many ways, terrible decision making under pressure but good heat…This group of 21s are moving us away from the traditional Limerick type player tho -

@glasagusban In a couple of years the spine of the team could be something like -English-Byrnes-C. Lynch- R. Lynch- Dowling…I don’t expect that to happen for a bit tho as this years seniors still have a bit to offer. The first thing we have to do this year is identify our no.6 and play him there all league.

Players under pressure this year - Red alert -Walsh, Wayne Mc, P. O’Brien, D. Breen- and to a lesser degree -Orange Alert- Hannon, Downes, Mul, Jim Bob, Tobin.

Of all the backs he has the most difficult role and definitely uses the ball extremely well. Often trying far too hard to find the man.
