Premier intermediate hurling championship round 4 result - Granagh/Ballingarry 0-17 Monaleen 0-14.
Magnificent win for Team G/B. Dramatic end to the first half as former intercounty footballer Ger Collins was dismissed on a straight red for an off-the-ball incident spotted by the linesman.
G/B rattled off the first five points of the second half to surge 9 clear before Monaleen stormed back into it. They cut the gap to three on a couple of occasions but couldnāt get any closer as their lion hearted opponents clung on for their second win on the bounce.
ALTC had some flashes of skill but overall lacked support around him. The old warhorse and stalwart Brian Geary had a tough night against Dodge who chipped in with four from play.
Garryspillane beat Dromin/Athlacca in tonightās other game, D/A now propping up the table.
Cracking post @treaty_exile. To look forward, I think this may be the last year of this team without significant change. Lynch at the least will come in. OāBrien and Lynch have been added this year and will stay put. Byrnes, ALTC, Dempseyx2, Morrisseyx2, Nash, Ryan, Finn, OāConnell, maybe even Quaid outfield and Murphy in goal all look like they may push for places next year.
Hereās hoping TJ shows something in the next two games at least to give a little hope that he can build or refresh the team with these players over the next year or two.
Was chatting to a Ballybricken club man last night, he was well embarrassed by the whole episode. Claimed there should be a replay but thought the CB would fudge that idea.
There will be no updates until after the CCC meet early next week. I think its usually Monday night.
One thing that for certain is that it was another fuck up by the board to award Ballybricken to cup on Thursday night as they had no power or reason to do so.
Lads seem reasonably confident. 10 pts is a big margin in football too.
They will need to seriously raise their game from the Clare match though. If they start like they did in that they will be 20 points down at half time.
Around 2003 was the last time the 'Well won it I think, which is crazy for them. There was a time when they seemed to win it every single year. Motoring nicely this year anyway. Carey & Rashers will have them fit.
