Anyway Dan or others from Cork - given the size of Cork would it not be an idea to build a small stadium out in Clonakilty or Skibbereen or somewhere. West Cork seems to be primarily football country and itās a long way in from there to Cork City. But you could build up the football following by playing a few league games out there.[/quote]
Would be some merit to it but that wouldnt suit the city teams who would be far more powerful politically.
The county is so big it has to be somewhere central really, old cliche but when you leave castletownbere going to dublin by the time you get to Mitchelstown you are exactly half way to Dublin, and your still in Co Cork. it certainly doesnt help matters.
Skibereen have a good junior rugby side and I know the likes of nenagh, waterford city etc would have 4/5 hr drive there for a game, its very very remote in W Cork
Why do you build me up, Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down and mess me around
And then worst of all you never call, baby
When you say you will, but I love you still
I need you more than anyone darling
You know that I have from the start
So build me up, Buttercup, donāt break my heart
If you told me Clare would only score 12 points on sunday Iād have been looking forward to the Munster Final. The softest goals Iāve ever seen. A freak of a goal, a collision between Lucey and Hickey, the Paudie OāDwyer shambles of an attempt to field the ball. You canāt give away four goals in Championship and expect to win. We should have won yesterday, I thought we did alot of the hurling even though we didnāt play to our potential, but the goals killed usā¦ Against the run of play too. Clare are ordinary enough but we blew it.
i still think we would winā¦a calmer day and we would have beaten ye by moreā¦take into consideration that flaherty and griffin were both badly hampered with injuries yesterdayā¦and the fact that limerick crowded their defence first half not to allow spaceā¦mike fitz would still be a stone and a half over weight in a weeks time and mike o brien still wouldnt be related to a hurlerā¦
i think that this year could well go to pot for limerick and the magician bennisā¦cant see ye beating galway cork or a waterford team with something to prove and revenge on their mindsā¦
Would ye get four goals the next day though Puke? Yeād surely have to score more than 12 points too. Both sides crowded their defence when the wind was against them I think. Weāll need to get over Offaly or Dublin first but if you donāt see us beating the big guns itās hard to see ye doing it either. Limerick have a chance at redemption but will need to grasp it with both hands. I think Clare will need to up it big style to beat Tipperary, they wonāt give ye presents like we did yesterday.
I was actually at the game, first time in Thurles in years really. Great atmosphere in fairness, way more Limerick fans there.
The only time I ever thought Lk were gonna win it was before Clare scored the first goal, after that ye were always chasing. I though CE were quite happy to let ye take yer points from long range but once the first goal went in for ye they defended deep enough.
Im no expert by any means but I thought physically CE dominated, seemed far better at winning the ball in the air and put themselves about the place far more. LK fitness looked well off what was required.
Thought Carey did v well in the intermediate match BTW, got a great cheer everytime he touched the ball!
I thought we would win when we got back to two points in the second half with the gale behind us. Clare just did to us what we did to Waterford last year, went up and stuck a few goals while we were camped in their half. Good luck to them, I donāt think either side are good enough to win anything this year but things could pick up a bit down the line.
to be honest shannonsider this clare team is capable of putting it up to any team in the countryā¦in terms of fitness physicality and heart alone we will take beatingā¦but in saying that i dont see us winning munster or being in an all ireland finalā¦
im not to worried by tipp and the players wont fear themā¦we will match them at midfield and in the half forward lineā¦if we can hold kelly and corbett then i could see us beating themā¦but if tipp have notions about winning an all ireland then they should be beating clare by 5 or 6 points at the minimumā¦
Tipp are being hyped up beyond all reason Puke. Could see ye disabusing some of that, they are just a bit more organised than last year, the players are much the same and havenāt become world beaters over night. Good luck to ye anyway, always nice to win Munster no matter how ye get on after. Itās worth winning in its own right and will put ye into an All Ireland semi.
Couldnāt have asked for a better draw to be honest. Hopefully the injuries to Stephen Kelly and Padraig Browne wonāt prove to be too bad, but from what Iāve been hearing Kelly is unlikely to be ok in time for next Saturday.
There was a crowd of roughly 5k there and I would say about 3k of those were from Meath. The footballers support is pathetic, they have shown ten times more fight and pride than the hurlers did this year, yet if there was hurling friendly match tomorrow evening it would probably attract a bigger crowd.
Hopefully yesterdays performance will ensure a bigger crowd next week, but to be honest Iād be surprised if thereās more than 12k.
Donāt want to get carried away but the possibility is there alright. Hopefully the lads keep there heads about them and keep playin as they have been.
