Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐
Padraig Kennedy

Cathal King didn’t line out, forget who was in the fullback line.
Mark Buckley, David Breen, Mike Foley

Alan Dempsey & Pat Gleeson

Ronan Lynch, Kevin Downes, David Dempsey
Adrian Breen, Shane Dowling, William O’Donoghue.

Na Piarsaigh could make a decent junior/intermediate team out of their subs. Ridiculous amount of players to choose from.

Colm Noonan

Cian Cagney, Donagh McCarthy, Mike Carroll (had an absolute blinder, cleaned up)
Bobby Houlihan, David Clancy, John Carroll

Dodge & Tommy O’Donovan

Denis O’Connor, Niall Kennedy, Eoin Kennedy
Cathal O’Keeffe, David Condron, Damian O’Donovan.
Kevin Downes the oldest player in that forward unit. That’s probably a good bit short of their strongest team too.

Who else? King, o’brien…

I took a spin into the Gaelic Grounds earlier for the double header.

The Well were much better than Murroe-Boher (who have gone back a lot in recent years). None of the Tobins made much of an impact, and they were really at the forefront when the club were going well a few years ago. Kevin was listed at centre-back but spent most of his team in midfield, Seanie centre-forward and Pat was listed at No. 13 but i’m 99% sure he didn’t start or feature at any point. Sean hit i think two points from play and four frees but disappointingly missed to my count three or four frees. I was surprised Kevin wasn’t taking the frees especially from long range as he was always noted for scoring from range. Hickey was excellent, was listed at No. 5 but played centre-back.

For the Well i thought the centre-back Diarmuid Byrnes played well, also chipped in with three frees from range. They never seemed to hit top gear and there seemed to be more in them. Cian Lynch wasn’t on the programme but played the full game at wing forward with No. 27 on his back. He’s the best young player i’ve ever seen at his age in Limerick. The touch, the brain, the speed, the hands, he’s elusive, and he scored three great points from play mostly way out the field. Didn’t hit a wide.

The first half of Adare v Ahane was very drab, Adare led at the break by 1-09 to 0-07 and were very much on top and looked to be coasting to the win. I only kept scores for the first half and didn’t bother for the second as game looked done and dusted at HT, so apologies for lack of detail in second half. Hannon hit a fine point from play in first half but other than that was extremely quiet, almost non existant at centre-forward. He needs to play better for longer periods of games, not just pop in and out. Willie Griffin was their main man in the forwards, hitting six points (three from play) in and around the first 30mins. Whatever happened in the second half, Adare just didn’t turn up. Ahane showed tremendous doggedness and heart in the second half and wanted the win more. The goal they got Houlihan got a decent hurley on it but it still went past him, he’ll be disappointed with it as it was central enough and he did almost keep it out. Ahane really needed it to push them ahead and from then on they wouldn’t be denied. For Ahane Niall Moran had a good solid game, he epitomised the rest of the team with great spirit and tenaciousness on the night. They didn’t stop hooking, blocking and harrying Adare players for the entire second half. The second half was very enjoyable and tense.

So what is it, Adare v Patrickswell next with the winner making the quarter-finals? I’d fancy the Well on tonight’s evidence. Limerick hurling seems to be in a really good place right now, long may it last. The senior championship is very competitive, there’s not a massive amount between the four teams that played tonight (well i’d put Murroe-Boher a bit behind the other three) and you could argue the three best sides in the county weren’t even in action at headquarters tonight - Na Piarsaigh, Kilmallock and Doon. I think this is my longest ever post on TFK, don’t get used to it. We decided to go for chips in Donkey Fords afterwards with the night that was in it but we arrived at 22.05 and she said there were only sausages left, we had missed the last of the chips. We had to get chips out in Garrowen then and it wasn’t the same.

Did ye go to Fuscos?

Yeah. There were a group of local gougers hanging around in hoodies with bikes outside eyeing up my van so we got the chips and drove back down the road to eat them.

Tournafulla man my hole, if you were from Tour you would have been in NCW for the West Junior Semi Final where Monagea beat Tour 3-19 to 1-13. Feohanagh v Rathkeale in other semi tomorrow night. A Feohanagh v Monagea West & County Finals on the cards.

Senior hurling is my priority but thanks for caring.

Funny, because ‘Senior Hurling’ seems to be Tour’s priority aswell, which is precisely the problem. The performances do not match the arrogance.

Heard about him in work today from one of the lads from Kilfinane, performances like that won’t do his chances any harm.

Is he anything to Hammy?

Doubtful, that’s a fair spin in a cab from Garryowen

5 point win for NaP over Doon tonight in the minor. Into a semi… They could meet for another battle this year in the final.

Were you at it?

Howdy folks, I said I’d introduce myself. I’m a longtime reader and since the hurling season is almost over I’ll need to get my fix talking about it through the winter!

I agree with most posters in that the future looks good. We seem to have stopped shooting ourselves in d foot but lots more needs to be done. Does anyone know the ins and outs of ‘lifting the treaty’? What it entails exactly. I know Joe McKenna and eibhear o’dea have been instrumental along with Jerry McManus’ backing. But how has it lead to this minor team?

He’s a Cork spy trying to steal our ideas. Tell him fucking nothing.

You’ve been smoked out bones ya hoor ya!!

You’re safe enough, most of the lads here know nothing anyway

We’ll let Glasagusban field these questions. That’ll learn um.

Ha gas man…yea if you could just send that underage blueprint to The Frank Murphy Monument :stuck_out_tongue:

And tell Jerry Wallace to get his arse back down here ASAP…we’re taking heavy fire!

Seriously tho, I’m a limerick man through and through. Just interested in how we got this off the ground. I know having Doon, ASR and Castletroy competitive has been NB but they’re only strong as a result of ‘Lifting the Treaty’.

Hammy Dawson has been instrumental in this initiative. He is the brains behind the entire operation.
You didn’t hear that from me
