Alright then. @bones, itâs been all Na Piarsaigh. A rising tide lifts all boats.
Hammy Dawson has been instrumental in this initiative. He is the brains behind the entire operation.
You didnât hear that from me
Thatâs right yea. Nothing like a good ol sit down to rally the troops. Aboy Ham!
That should go in the things that come with an asterisk thread anyway!
Their success has been a help alright. Nice to have the whole pick of the north side too thoâŚlads coming from Corbally to play FFS. Not that itâs their fault, but thatâs something that needs serious addressing. Thereâs limerick lads hurling with Parteen as thereâs no club.

What would you know about Corbally and Parteen? For a man asking questions you seem to have a lot of answers⌠Iâll be watching you, bucko.
Surely Corbally lads affiliate with St.Paâs?
Who are these Limerick lads playing with Parteen?
Watch all you want pal. Paranoid much?
Played underage and with ASR so Iâd know enough. I know parents from Corbally sending their kids to NaP. The Breens are From Corbally.
A lot of questions? I asked 1 relating to Lifting the Treaty. Hardly covert stuff considering our minors are in the All-Ireland.

Would it be feasible to try start again with Abbey-Sarsfields? Surely it is possible to get a pitch for a GAA team in the Corbally area? A lot of people complained when Milford GAA disappeared but the truth of the matter is that whole parish is mostly student-land now and there wouldnât be enough native kids to warrant a club. Corbally is an entirely different story. St. Maryâs Parish, Limerick always seems to have been completely devoid of a GAA team, more than any parish I can think of anywhere in the country.
Iâd be all over that. Ncw beat kierans 0-9 to 0-2 in the west final only 3 weeks ago. Kierans have 6 points after playing the 3 worst teams in the group. NCW only lost to Caseyâs by a point and I know Adare pushed them close but I hears ncw were well in control for long spells
NCW beat them in the WSFC final recently on a scoreline of 0-08 to 0-02, yes that was the final score. Ncw found them very hard to break down and only tacked on a few scores near the end so it was much closer than the scoreline suggests. Ncw struggled against Adare in the last round of championship through a lack of directness which if they continue with will suit Kierans down to the ground. I would go for a tight game with NCW winning by 2 points.
Paddy Power have NCW at 10/11.
Full time GDAs were employed to promote hurling in the Northside and Southside regeneration areas a few years ago. Old Christians and Ballinacurra Gaels have improved but LIT sarsfields and Abbey Sarsfields have disbanded. Why isnt anybody being held accountable for these failures?
Ballinacurra Gaels played only 2 games in the Junior B football this year. They got beaten by nearly 30 points in both. They gave walkovers in the rest of their games. It looks like they will be the next city club to disband at adult level. They seem to be doing okay at under age but it looks like themselves and Old Christians will have to fully join in that also. Claughaun, Old Christians, St Pats, Na Piarsaigh, Monaleen and Mungret will be the only clubs left in a couple of years. Would 6 strong well run clubs be enough for a city of 100000?
Iâll field this one:

My first thought would be that the GDAs were clueless and inept in the case of the northside clubs.
I could also make an argument that vested interests from within the local GAA didnât want any more clubs. I donât know an awful lot about the situation in the north side, what I do know for sure is that Monaleen did everything they could to stop another club being established in Castletroy and Milford GAA only lasted from 2002 till 2012. I brought it up with someone involved in Monaleen and he was genuinely concerned about the fact that a small junior club like Milford could hamper their progress. If Milford GAA had existed in the 1990s, he argued, Brian Geary would have never played for Monaleen as he went to Milford NS and hailed from that parish. I pointed out that Geary would never have stayed at a junior club but he wasnât having any of it and used Ger Collins as an example of what they could be missing out on if another club started in Castletroy. Now, Castletroy is a fucking huge suburb, getting bigger all the time but the Monaleen boys are content to have it all to themselves.
I wouldnât be surprised if Na Piarsaigh are similarly trilled about the fact that they have all the northside to themselves. Weâre moving towards having 5 or so super clubs in the city area. The whole of St. Maryâs Parish in the city is a black hole for the GAA right now.
The council wonât let a pitch be used for GAA in the Corbally/St.Maryâs/Thomond gate area⌠Rugby tho⌠The area badly needs it, lots of kids are playing GAA in Scoil Ide and many are indeed playing with Parteen, theyâve huge numbers from ages6-12 at the moment. If Mark Renton ever won the lotto I know he said it would be the first thing he would do when he sobered up but that doesnât look like happening any time soon. You have three secondary schools in the locality (one all girls) and three primary schools also- Scoil Ide being one of the biggest in the country⌠Itâs a fucking scandal that thereâs no club there with that platform.
I wouldnât be so harsh on the GDAs. Theyâre job is to facilitate and help out. Like any GAA club you need volunteers. Every club has a few die hards who bleed GAA. Theyâre even more NB when starting out initially. Perhaps that sort of willpower isnât there. It is a rugby/soccer stronghold with St.Maryâs, Munchins and Corbally FC. However if the council wonât let them have a field, well thatâs a different story entirely.
No, it is not. Pats and Christians are making a great go of it. Fitzgerald on the minor panel Is great to see. I think Christians have a lad coming u16 as well. No way a club d size of Mungret should be intermediate. They have a pick bigger than NaP! Again rugby/soccer are big pulls. Think player of the year Diarmyid Dee gone to d egg chasing. If they get it right out there it would be a huge shot in the arm for the county.

Can you name them please? I only see Na Piarsaigh and Monaleen with that potential and catchment area right now. The other city clubs are struggling. Who would we name as other true city clubs i.e in the city environs so exclude Mungret, the Well and the likes.
I suppose in addition to the big two above you have:
Claughaun
St. Patâs
Old Christians
St. Patâs of the above are the only ones going well and thatâs in football. Claughaun are struggling and Old Christians as good as dead. Who are the five âsuper clubsâ that we will have in the city?
Really?
