Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

Who starred for Cappagh/kilcornan

Like yourself I was in the Gaelic Grounds. Was going to head out to Rathkeale for the second half but the extra time put paid to those plans.

I should have gone over and said hello to you in The Ardhu!

In other news Kilkenny won the Tony Forristal. Was told they beat Limerick 2-15 to 0-01 in the group stage.
Result from the big football match in Limerick today.

West junior football championship quarter final - Cappagh/Kilcornan beat Granagh/Ballingarry by 5 points (AET).
@dodgy-keeper I heard Seamus O’Carroll scored 1-13 out of 1-15 for Cappagh/kil

Is he still playing handball? I would have had a small interest in the game in the past and would have played when the local club was going but I haven’t seen his name anywhere lately. West Limerick is a great loss in this regard because they always had a slot for handball so at least we knew what was going on. Martina McMahon from Croagh had a good win over the weekend also.

No idea Batt. Wouldn’t hear much about the handball scene

Just back from Bruff.

Premier Intermediate hurling championship result - Croom 2-11 Garryspillane 1-11

Awful night for a match. Dark, overcast and the game played in a constant drizzle which intensified as the game progressed. Mediocre first half, 0-07 each at the break. Highlight was Donie Ryan getting the ball, his helmet coming off but he played on and stuck a point over from play. The Croom lads were raging but I don’t think there is anything in the rules against it?

He was the main man for the Bouncers all the way through, banged them over from frees and play before scoring a goal. His nephew Colin tapped over a point to push them 1-11 to 0-10 clear as they looked set to kick for home.

A dogged Croom had other ideas, though, and responded with an immediate point before bagging two goals (the last two scores of the game) to seal an important win that should secure their place in the top four of the group. First one was an absolute peach from the lively corner forward (Deccie??) and I think it was one of the Cahill’s who got the winner. Overall not great fare. Bruree and Knockaderry drew last night.

It was a fantastic occasion in the Gaelic Grounds last night. It was great to showcase our stadium. The one negative thing is the Mackey stand. It has to go. It would be great if they could build a compact stand with a bar and function room where the players and officals could have a meal after training and games. A gym and museum would also be a good idea. Will this happen sometime in the near future?

Get the cheque book out jp

This is why the mackey stand is the way it is. the main Ennis road is in the way.

What would we put in the museum?

Tom Ryan.

You’d need mental health professionals on hand if you were to tell the story of Limerick hurling.

Im sure that an architect would come up with a solution

JP could move the Ennis road.

The Mackey Stand was the solution. There is also an ESB substation that the back of the stand, so there is fcuk all room behind most of the stand.

Maybe dig up the pitch and go down another level. Like they did with the Nou Camp. Replace the pillars blocking the view in the stand with glass ones.
