They got to the county final in football a few years ago I think. But hurling is king. Like most predominantly hurling clubs in the county there would be elements within it who would happily see the football team disbanded.
Theyâve done well in recent years to be a dual senior club.
I donât think thereâs a massive overlap between their hurlers and footballers?
Not now but not so long ago a fair chunk of the senior hurling team played football too I think.
On the subject of city GAA, I see Claughan are on the brink of being relegated from intermediate. They now face Gerald Griffins in a relegation play off. Would be some blow for them to go down junior. Would be hard to see them coming back up.
I decided to have a look through the archives for some info on this. Presently there would be 5\6 dual players playing both codes.
Monaleen beat Adare in the final in 2010. There were 10 dual players playing for Adare, of whom at least 7 would have been regulars with the senior hurlers.
Monaleen beat Adare after a replay in the final in 2002. 12 of the 18 players used that day would have been dual senior and football. 1 or 2 others would have also played junior hurling. I can also recall that back then Adare didânt train much, probably once a week for most of the season as hurling training was also in full swing.
The report is herehttp://www.irishexaminer.com/archives/2002/1104/ireland/limerick-sfc-final-monaleenaposs-24-year-wait-finally-ends-354653363.html
Is that who i think it is?
i assume he would want to piss in the bucket for some of the board officers?
They are in a shit area of town in fairness âŚmust be very hard to keep it going
Claughaun will probably beat Gerald Griffins but if they do go down it would be a disaster for them. There is 3 Junior A teams in the city and 2 of them are b teams. If they went down into that crap, it would finish them. It just shows yet again the need for all county championships in every grade from senior down to Junior F. The divisional boards served their purpose and should be disbanded. Claughaun had a fine young team 2 years ago and were unlucky to lose to Pallasgreen after a replay and extra time in Bruff. The first game ended in a draw and a riot!
Whatâs the story with Gearoid Hegarty of Pats, is he gonna focus solely on football?

Best solution would be to annex Westbury/Shannon Banks/Meelick/Parteen. I consider that territory to be our Sudetenland. Maybe throw in Cratloe as well but Iâd stop short of the âBridge. Weâve enough savages in Limerick already.
Been saying that for years. Could throw in Meelick too. All those areas are mostly Limericians who gave just moved out anyway.
We are having a bad week. Inter footballers went out last night despite winning due a bit of a surprise result elsewhere.
Minor footballers needed to win by 27 tonight and went for it, getting on top in 2nd half. Win by 17 pts but opposition keeper made 6 good saves, only conceding 2.
Minor hurlers in action Tuesday and that could also end their season.

Is your own chap in action tonight?
Last round of the senior football fixed for Friday/Saturday week.
Group 2 is sorted in terms of qualifiers, with Ballylanders, Drom & Pats all through. The only thing to be decided now is the order in which the qualify.
Ballylanders have Pallas & Pats left to play as they attempt to maintain a 100% record which would see them top the group and go straight into the semi.
Group 1 sees Fr Caseys qualified, but will need a result against St Kierans in the last game to ensure top spot. There are all sorts of permutations for the remaining two spots, with Kierans, Ballysteen and NCW all fighting it out. Nothing less than a win against NCW will do Ballysteen, but even then they are not guaranteed qualification as score difference could come into play if Bally win and Kierans lose to Caseys (likely) and currently Ballysteen are 5 points behind in the scoring charts. A Kierans win or draw against Caseys would mean that NCW only need a win or a draw against Ballysteen to see them progress.
would have been, but now postponed to next Tuesday
I see Blackrock v Athlacca has been postponed to September 6th- Athlacca have no minors involved so I wonder is that a nod to Dylan Dawson âŚ
Pallas at it again, straight red for Callaghan aswell!!
Who had Pallas sent off?
Themselves and Galbally would be a feisty relegation match.
Result from the big football match in Limerick today.
West junior football championship quarter final - Cappagh/Kilcornan beat Granagh/Ballingarry by 5 points (AET).
