Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

Just back from Kilmallock.

Intermediate hurling championship semi final result - Monaleen 2-16 Glenroe 0-14.

The city outfit promoted to Premier Intermediate. Even first half before Monaleen took over after the break. ALTC is class, he was phenomenal in the the second half. Best player on the pitch. The other semi final between Pallas and Mungret was a draw, apparently, and goes to a replay.

Premier Intermediate hurling championship result - Bruff 2-14 Croom 0-16.

Croom did all the hurling in the first half but only went in three points up. Peter Lawlor rolled back the years with a vintage display. Sean Finn kicked a goal with the very last action of the half to throw his side a lifeline. They bagged another scrappy goal early in the second half and always had their noses in front thereafter. Poor enough game overall, with two teams promoted the semi finals are now the biggest games of the year. Conor Allis showed flashes of a return to form.

Mungret/Pallas was a dogfight with never much in it, Richie Moloney was the star of the show

Liam O’Sullivan was next best with a few controversial calls at umpire denying Pallas what looked like two solid points from distance

Feohanagh a point up in the junior final, 5 minutes left. Na Piarsaigh after reeling off the last three or four points in a row.

Na Piarsaigh now a point up.

Full time. Na Piarsaigh 0-16 Feohanagh/Castlemahon 2-09.

Limerick Gaa really do take the biscuit!!

Amazing scenes in the Gaelic Grounds.

In a situation which is totally alien to Limerick GAA a giant cock-up has occurred, this time at the county Junior hurling final.

From Jerome O’Connell - Referee and scoreboard wrong. Limerick JAHC final ends level Feohanagh 2-9 Na Piarsaigh 0-15. Replay needed #GAA

When is the replay on pal?

They were sluggish enough to get the scores right in the senior final as well.

They made a balls of the scoreboard during the Kilmallock-Adare quarter final a few weeks ago too.

Liam Aherne - appears that the County Junior A Hurling final ended in a draw, despite everyone having Na Piarsaigh ahead by a point. Ref said a draw

Na Piarsaigh twitter - Word coming through now that county board intervened and claim the score was incorrect and the game was actually a draw!!!.. Video time!!

Jerome O’Connell - By my notes Limerick JAHC final was correctly deemed a draw. Referee & scoreboard were inaccurate in final quarter

Eibhear O’Dea - Spot on! The scoreboard incorrectly awarded Na Piarsaigh a point 15 mins into 2nd half. Exciting game well done to both teams

As long as the ref was up to date with the scores that’s all that matters. Still very unfair to Na Piarsaigh players to have them briefly believe that they had won it.

Does anyone know who the fucking apes operating the scoreboard are? After the Kilmallock Adare farce I thought they’d surely be gotten rid of.

Sub David Sheppard scored an excellent Shane Dowling-esque point for the last score of the game that according to the scoreboard put Na P one ahead. It appeared that following consultation with the ref after the game he confirmed that it had, in fact, been a draw. Replay. Feonagh will go on to play the Tipp junior champs next weekend in any event as a junior club must represent in the Munster championship. If Na P do win the replay Damien Quigley will have county medals at every level from minor up.

Why was Sheppard not starting?

Would Quigley not already have a junior from 20+ years ago? Should have 16 & 14 also

Injured most of the year.

14 and 16 probably. I was told he needs junior to complete the set. Legend

Just back from the Gaelic Grounds (via a couple of pubs)

That ape being paid to do the scoreboard is from Na Piarsaigh and I’d imagine he’ll be getting his P45 after his third fuck-up this year. Adare v Kilmallock was the first and last week he was more interested in watching the row between Kevin Downes and Liam Walsh to notice that Graeme Mulcahy had scored a point that he failed to record.

Tonight took the biscuit though. When Na P scored their 11th point he moved the board from 0-10 to 0-12. Virtually everyone sitting near me (from both clubs) copped it.

Paddy Lyons didn’t cover himself in glory either as it looked like linesman, Richie Moloney, brought it to his attention and there seemed to be a couple more interventions to clarify the score. When he came down the tunnel after the final whistle, someone shouted was the score correct and he confirmed it was. It obviously wasn’t and I believe he was paid a visit in the dressing room where he re-checked and realised it was a draw. In fairness, Oliver Mann took to the microphone to confirm same and all he got for his troubles was to get abused by some West Limerick Roaster called Murty-something from Na Piarsaigh who obviously wanted to claim a cup they hadn’t won. Funniest part was watching the antics of Timmy O’Connor who was torn between wanting to celebrate and wanting to be all things to all men.

As for the game itself, it was fairly shite and a draw was about the right result.

I will have to ask him so I can put glas straight

how does it work from the referee point of view. When does a result become final. After you
said going if the field that
the ref said na piarsaigh won. is it when the ref submits his report? Can he change at any point? Just generally not in relation to this match.

creak is going on with the scoreboard for years. I remember seeing kilmallock playing a quarter final when mike houlihan was manager and the clock on the scoreboard said 59 mins. When the f ref blow full time

As far as I know, the referee’s report is the final arbiter on matters of fact during a game and, if a referee realises an error was made, he’s quite entitled to correct it before he submits his report.

In fairness to Paddy Lyons last night, he copped it straight away and it was less than two or three minutes before it was confirmed that the game was a draw. The scoreboard operator made a total balls of it and it could have put the ref in a very precarious position. Usually, a ref would have one of his umpires keeping score also, and I believe this was the case last night so it was easy enough to rectify.
