Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

The Na Piarsaigh lads can fill a few gaps until we are ready.

How many players bud

I would also prefer to see Paudie at wing-forward than wing-back, because obviously you don’t break the current midfield partnership. Having someone like Paudie to spring from the bench wouldn’t be a bad option either. But I would be worried if he’s still wing-back come Championship, he’s not a great defender and he doesn’t dominate the air; his movement into space and his striking are very good, he’ll pick a nice pass but I think we need our half-back line to be ‘meaner’. Kilkenny built their success around an unbelievable half-back line, Cork in 2004/2005 had a superb half-back line, same with Tipp a few years back. You don’t win an All-Ireland if your half-back line is your weakest line, I think.

3 or 4. Who can tell?

Munster will be competitive this year.

Any of Limerick, Cork, Waterford or Tipp will be there or thereabouts.

Still expecting a Limerick v Cork final, but Limerick could easily be playing Waterford in the provincial decider.

Serious Question Balbec; is there any word on Kevin O’Donnell being brought into the panel after Kilmallock finish up? I dont know if this is true but i am told he is the kind of lad happy out hurling with his club and his previous underage experiences with Limerick may have turned him off the county scene?

Other way round Joe. Scores were level. Ball came to Shane Fives 50 yards out from his own goal. Shane had the chance to pick the ball and go for the winner but he got a bad case of the heebeegeebees and the ball went under his hurley and landed in Aidan Fogarty’s paw 40 yds out. As Taggy wound up to land the winning score the whistle went.

Wishful thinking. Tipperary would destroy that Waterford team.

Opposite side of the draw though.

Worse again. There’ll be no element of surprise. It’ll be like 2011 all over again.

3 max, and 2 of those will be under pressure.
Good reports by bmb & Aristotle.

Wayne made a lot mistakes in possession along with giving away two needless frees. I would reckon he was at fault for 5 pts.

Dodge does not look the part at wing back. I think his place is 10 or 11.
I fully agree on having brownie and jimbob midfield. That also leaves paudie as a wing forward. Condon will work at 7. I think Hannon needs a couple of games at 6 in the league.

 • sort out centre back
 • bring in 4 from kilmallock
 • clear up the 5 injuries that are being given time
 • stop lumping ball in to the ff line (ball to half line is much better)
 • Begley is a nuisance player for the last 10 mins. Touch and speed of operation not near interco. He is actually a far better footballer.
 • a kilmallock win in croke park would be good for confidence

All in all, we have enough there to be right in the mix come August
I didn’t think wayne was as bad as all that last night. If he is replaced at 6 he should move to 5. We know what we will get from him, question is whether we have anyone better. I don’t think so. Morrissey hasn’t set the world on fire yet but i’d like to see more of him. I still think hickey would excellent at 6 but management have him firmly nailed on corner back now (uncharacteristically rusty last night). Dodge might be an option, it’s the only place I can see him starting at the moment, I don’t think theres room for him at half forward (lynch, Hannon, Gavin, Breen, downes). Also, dodge has had poor leagues before but been excellent again for summer -but he’s 34 now… We also need two wing backs if Gavin is moved. Not fully convinced by condon yet, he is more likely to try for the booming clearance or to try run the length of the field than get the head up and find a pass to midfield like o’mahony, but he was good yesterday. I’d like to see O’Donnell added in. Bryan O’Sullivan too. Breen won’t be moved back. Tom Ryan gone again. We’re running out of potential half backs. Try Quaid? That line is a worry.

Sean o’brien looks like the extent of our full back line cover. Good player but it makes dropping Dempsey and carmody look more strange now. Can’t see why king isn’t tried back there, he actually had a very good start to the game yesterday before fading out completely.

Dowling is full forward. Downes is second. If we are looking at begley for the last 10 then we are fucked.

Hannon and Breen were big losses last night, if we’d had both or even either of them we’d likely have won.

Reidy and Tom Morrissey are worth persisting with in the forwards and could be useful impact subs come summer.

The problem is Wayne has been coughing up scores from silly mistakes for a few years now. It is’nt new. If you want to go to the next level he either must eradicate these or else he goes. Centre Back is too important a position.

As above, who have we better? I thought dodge should have been left there after 2012 but I don’t think he’s up to it any more. Doesnt look like Quaid or hickey will be moved. Morrissey doesn’t convince yet.

It looks like Dodge is the only other option for 2015, and as i previously stated last night, being Captain etc. and if Wayne continues to have poor games, the management may go with Dodge. Wayne would be behind others for either wing back spot at this stage in my opinion

What is the story with Tom Ryan? I know he is injured at present but lads saying he is gone from the panel??

Won’t go and see the Limerick appointed physio. Number of appointments made for him and he never showed.

What the fuck? That is strange. Is the physio riding his girlfriend or his mother or what?

I don’t think dodge has 70 minutes in him any more. I think the role for him is impact wing forward for the last 25 mins. I don’t think our wing back options are all that hot. Especially is Gavin is moved forward. I’d have wayne ahead of condon or paudie at wing back for a start.

Lads, calm down tis only February. Whatever team we send out come May, will be ready and able. Our league form v championship form over the last few years have been very contrasting. The league is to bring on a few young lads to get them up to speed, dodge,Wayne and co will all deliver on the big day (s).

I don’t know.
