Limerick GAA - We get knocked down 🐐

Do not give me that players are missing crap

So it will be alright on the night ye have problems my friend
Eventhough promotion is now gone, it’s important that Limerick nail down the runner up spot. A competitive quarter final will stand them in good
stead come championship. Also Limerick are learning more about what depth(or lack of) there is in the panel. Disappointing but not the end of the world for us.
Only need top four for quarter final, pal.

Bull

Despite what the reports will say, this game was not lost after the second minute dismissal of Shane Dowling. Nor was it lost in the 18 shots wide of the goal. No, it was lost on the sideline by TJ Ryan & co, who didn’t bother to make the required switches. Putting Hannon to 11 (moving our best remaining forward to the forwards - not rocket science) and swapping Dodge to 6 was the most obvious move to make once Dowling had been dismissed. When you’re a man down for 68 minutes, the priority is to win the game. First and foremost.

Playing with 14 men, one would assume that fatigue would set in, and that changes with 20 or so minutes remaining, would be a necessity. No, not if you’re TJ. He will play on until the 60th minute, when your side is already tiring and 3 points behind, before making a tactical substitution. The mind boggles.

And what of your half back, Conor Allis, who’s honest and game, but is also being given a tough time of it by Nolan, the Offaly number 8? Nope, no switch there either, TJ was seemingly happy to see him being roasted.

I’m sorry I had to witness this tonight. Do not blame this defeat on Shane Dowling’s red card. He might have been stupid on the night, but it was the total lack of brains on the sideline that lost it tonight for Limerick. Even with 14, we were more than good enough to see off a poor Offaly side, if only our management team had a clue.

aim low

Staying in 1b doesn’t bother me…you use it as a training camp and slowly build. You get a quarter final against 1a opposition at the end that you can give a rattle and then settle down to the real business and getting ready for championship. However, the sideline and lack of tactics is a slight concern at present. while it is only a training camp you’d like them to be working on certain aspects of their game not langering it aimlessly forward all day. We finally have a great set of forwards after years of average forward lines- we have to give them decent ball, it’s a very basic requirement… Hopefully management start upping training once the Kilmallock boys are back. Downes is back soon too.

Tony is having some laugh reading the last 2 pages of this thread.

@look at Tony?

It isn’t the losing that bothers me it is the manor in which we lose that pisses me of. Beginning to think Tj is fairly clueless.

Im going back on . Ballyhale will win this relatively easily

I hope so for ye

Disappointing result for the footballers today, but Fermanagh are simply on a different level to us at the moment. John Reddington on the radio said that Gearoid Hegarty was like a young John Galvin though, and the comparison is quite apt, hard to believe he’s still U-21, serious footballer.

That’s what he wants ye to think.

'Tis easy think it…

Is he anything to Ger Hegarty ?

Son.

Gearoid was on the Limerick minor hurling panel a couple of years ago I think but he’s a much better footballer.

His son afaik.

He’s a very good hurler too, wouldn’t be surprised if he made our 21 hurlers too if he had the interest.

Any old gombeen would make your 21s ffs-

Limerick are back to being the whipping boys again- What a joke of a county, stuffed at home to one of the worst outfits in hurling history- What did Ger Lough RIP say about their arses again last year?.. must have been important if he said it from beyond the grave.
