I prefered Old Two Pot House
New Twopothouse? Ah, yes, New Twopothouse. I once knew a girl who lived in New Twopothouse. Long time ago, when I was a young man. Not a day passes I donāt think her and the promise that I made which I will always keep. That one perfect day in New Twopothouse.
Once youāre coming from Dublin
Thereās a way via @dodgy_keeperās house. Bad road but better than sitting in traffic, brings you out in Newcastle West so you donāt skip that.
Thatās fine if your destination is Abbeyfeale or Kerry. What if like me your destination is four miles beyond Adareā¦ā¦.not really worth the diversion. In fact Iād be home sooner just waiting in Adare traffic than detouring via the Bruff Line.
Whenās the rail line supposed to open.
Theyād want to get shaking on that bypass fairly rapid if they want it done for the Ryder cup
The bypass will be completed by the third quarter of 2026, with construction to begin in February 2025. With machinery such as loaders, pavers, trenchers, etc. they use today utilising modern digital technology and the use of AI and 3D technology, they can confidently expect to have that 11km stretch done in 18 months.
Rail line due for completion first half of 2026.

It is fairly straightforward land which helps.
I suppose the rail line is delayed by motorway bridges now as well.
Looks like they have nothing built to load or unload the train in Foynes yet either
There will be nothing getting loaded or unloaded in Foynes. The project will be a white elephant. It was just a relatively short stretch of track that allows the Greens to say they are āreopening the rail linesā
Heard a fella looking to have a bet that it will never be used for anything

Will make a fine greenway

I used to use it for walking the dogs and I canāt even do that now

Thereās no reason it canāt be a success if they put the right infrastructure in place at either end of the line. But then again this is Ireland so Iāll temper my expectations.
What will it carry?
Freight?
I think passenger services are a long way off
But what freight exactly?
It closed down because there was no freight to carry at a time when roads were a lot worse. I think Premier Molasses was all that kept it going in the last few years.
Who would you even begin to talk to if you had an idea about a freight service applicable? Iarnroid Eireann/Irish Rail or is it private line?
Itās irish rail running it. Iād be sure they have a freight division.
They do and theyāre pretty inept. However, they have a mandate to expand use of lines for commercial activity so might be more approachable
