What way your lads line out?-

Will it be more or less the same as the relegation decider and the hope of isolating Richie Mc with SOD?

If Limerick do play a third midfielder as been spouting - what’s Clare’s plan here? Albeit Galvin is gone, but a lot of Davy’s tactics still come through the middle, looking for over-lapping wing backs and short passes into space- If Limerick squeeze you out here do Clare have the players for a more direct game? Conlon and Honan in at the full ?

The common theme with Davy Fitz sides be it Clare or Waterford would be flat performances the first day out. With that in mind I think it would be a retrograde step by limerick to pick a game plan based on stiffling Clare and withdrawing men out the field. It will only lead to a tight and dour game which will be very much 50/50. May and June you should be looking to play your own game for the most part and then evolving/tweaking your team and tactics as the year goes on and the real knockout hurling starts in July

The backs are my worry

I am tipping limerick to snake it just.

Quit wanker

And get a life

Get yourself a job and a wife

Do you not think Davy will be desperate to win this after last year and the league?- I agree with your sentiment but both managers are under pressure here and will want to hit the ground running… However, Limerick having multiple game plans in place other than hip and whip is a recipe for disaster.

I don’t think either manager can afford to lose but it isn’t a “must win” game either especially if all emphasis is placed on this one game then only to be beaten by Tipp and knocked out early in the qualifiers then a win here wouldn’t be worth a hill of beans to them.

I was much more confident a month ago but if McGrath or Dillon fail to make it then we will be very much up against it as both are very big players for it.

To be honest I think some would give Davy some bit of a pass if he threw in the likes of Cleary, Duggan, Reidy etc from the start and dropped the likes of Donnellan, Ryan etc who haven’t performed since 2013

Clare won’t be as much put out if they lose I’d say, they know what they can achieve on a run through the back door and will refocus pretty quick. While it won’t be the end of the world for limerick either, they have placed so much emphasis on trying to be shit in the league and turning up for championship that they are under pressure to perform. Also, given our record over recent years I’d give limerick a better chance than Clare against Tipp.

I think that a defeat for either team would do a lot of damage to morale and confidence in either dressing room and I would be surprised if either managers could turn it around fro a defeat especially if it is a flat performance

Probably how it’ll end up.

Agree and I think it would suit us.

Limerick didn’t have to change things to beat Tipp first time out in the last two years. I think it would be madness to do it now. But I suppose if they can win the end will justify the means
