The timeframe of those collapses are not similar to Corks though.
How are Ollie and Niall keeping?
Cork didnt collapse - I dont think itâs fair to say it â they were in on goal in the 72nd minute and it took a great bit of thinking to keep them out⌠they also hit the post a minute later- either of those scores could have ended Limerick. They kept pushing but didnt have the quality on the field to do it at the end.
You didnât specify a time frame
Kearney going off meant Nash couldnât find him anymore and we got on top of their puck outs. We pushed up on the short ones and started winning ball.
Kiely referenced it in his post match. It was part of the alterations they made with the subs. He said we got on top of the Cork puck out.
I think Kearney going off had a lot to do with the fact we got on top of it. The subs we made coincided with this. Maybe Cork got a little bit tired in the closing stages in key areas.
No single factor contributed to it. A lot had to go right for Limerick and wrong for Cork by the very nature we were 6 points down with 8 minutes to play. It did for both and we won. We done what we had to do, on the line and on the field, eventually.
In any game, there are so many intangible factors and uncontrollable things that change how a game pans out. âWhat if Gillane stuck those goal chancesâ, âwhat if Horgan flicked the ball to the net instead of over the barâ, âwhat if Harnedy wasnât injuredâ, âwhat if Horgan misses that freeâ?
All any team can do is roll with the punches and keep doing what works. The minute you start to panic and stray from the plan, and you go to shit. See Limerick vs Clare.
Limerick scored 5 points in 5 mins against Kilkenny, they have confidence in their bench, their fitness and the overall plan. I think it was plain to see Meyler did not trust his bench.
Letâs face it lads, we were steeped.
But in fairness ye deserved a break after years of
UNLIMITED HEARTBREAK
Iâm counting my lucky stars since Sunday that it was one of those rare games where substitutions were needed. And for years even those went against us as well.
It was a very soft free. The ref just levelled it up
I thought it was a free tbh. Softish but really silly by Byrnes.
There was one in extra time I thought was never a free though.
I thought as much but looking back on @Copper_pipeâs youtube upload of the whole game - if you pause it not only did Byrnes have his hurley in over the shoulder but he had a pull at Lehaneâs free hand also. It was a free.
Lynch on Kearney ⌠never a free ⌠there was one right at the start of the second period of extra time also - Byrnes again - not sure what it was for.
Byrnes was penalised for being taller than the Cark shortarse.
The narrative being pushed here that Limerick were somehow lucky to get a draw is very strange, given that if it was the other way round weâd be slaughtered for âshitting itâ.
Limerick were the better side overall in the opening half, have ye forgotten the missed goal chances?! If ye are going to push Corkâs so called injuries as the reason for Limerickâs comeback then the same logic can be applied with Limerickâs missed goal chances (only Harnedy came off injured and that was in ET, not in the 70mins when he fluffed a winning chance, remember?).
Daniel Kearney did not come off injured. He was cramping up with fucking 10 minutes to go. @caoimhaoin would you not agree thatâs absolutely ridiculous and a sign he simply is not fit and properly conditioned? A small light quick lad carrying little bulk cramping up after 60 minutes? He came back in during ET so it wasnât a muscle injury. Harnedy actually came off due to a dead leg picked up in first half, his hamstring gave him no trouble at all. Darragh Fitzgibbon tired alright after his last point and showboat but actually came off after a belt at the throw in for Extra time?
So, this idea that Limerick were lucky is inaccurate. We never panicked even when things started to go wrong. Look at the scores we got in the final 8 minutes, Kyle Hayesâ point similar to Tom Morrissey v Kilkenny. Dowlings one a carbon copy of his point v Kilkenny. Stretch the defence and Ball into the corners and take them on resulted in the other scores. There was no hit and hope, all very measured stuff, like the Kilkenny game. Great to see.
We might not win the All Ireland, but weâve got a brilliant side to be proud of.
Mossy Carroll 1980đ
Shane Dowling won the match single handedly fellas, all the time wasted analyzing this match is ridiculous, Cork were better until the Dow, the Dowâs period of dominance was just better
Just as well they have done up Colbert station ahead of the home comingâŚ
Didnât realise how dominant the Dow was until I watched it back, He absolutely lorded it.
