Those 20 points are largely due to VVD, Fabinho and Allison TBF all of whom came after he left.
Liverpool could have done with Coutinho at times this year when they were struggling to breakdown teams but in general if you think of it as a straight swap for the other three (which it kind of was) it was a great deal.
They’ve given away very few stupid goals this season.

Quinn is spot on. Players for whatever reason inhibited around Messi. Almost afraid of making a mistake. It’s the same with Barca since xabi, iniesta and alves moved on. Messi is a wonderful footballer but he isn’t a leader of men. Like against roma last season when the taps turned Messi stood like a spoilt child. You could argue a lot of Argentina players have underperformed around him. I’d also have the strong suspicion Messi manages the team on field and the last few barca managers are fairly spineless. That really won’t win you champions leagues.

if players are inhibited by him, that’s more to do with them than him. I would doubt that it is true in the first place but the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, E’Too, Neymar etc haven’t been inhibited playing with him. Nor Aguero, Di Maria etc for Argentina.
Messi can’t be blamed for having weak minded players around him now.

The great players drag up to new levels. Van dijk has lifted many of the Liverpool players around him to new heights. The same can’t be said for Messi.
Di maria, aguero and pretty much everybody on the field yesterday folded around him and he done nothing only stand there and sulk.
