Its a bit like right wing talk radio in the US full a lunatics

Brid believes that the evicted Killiney couple were “trapped in a nightmare” not of their own making. She’s sick of the gloating and begrudgery in this country. Tim is appalled at their treatment and compares it to what happened in the early 1800s.

I personally think this is up there with the repossession of Derek Quinlan’s yacht and Paddy Kelly’s BMW in terms of the injustice of it all.

Is this to do with that video of the old couple getting evicted that is circulating now? What’s the background behind this? And I’m not talking about the leafy suburb either Sid.

They can always move to Ballybrack. It’s just down the road so they’d be easily able to stay part of the community. It just wouldn’t be gated anymore.

As landlords themselves I’m sure they’ll understand if their tenants decide they don’t want to bother paying rent any more.

I heard this “poor couple” own about 7 properties all over Dublin?

Ah lovely.

Occupy Dame Street

Thats nothing to do with the couple in Killiney !

Some of the comments are claiming a youtube clip says otherwise, I dont have access to youtube here so cant verify. BS have rowed back on their initial claim that it was as you’ll see in the comments section.

The question is, if these couple can be thrown out of their primary residence, then why hasn’t it happened to multiple property developers and ex-anglo execs etc…

I think the point was made on the radio this morning that this guy was unlucky he didn’t owe more to the banks. If he had he would have been put in NAMA and then offered an annual salary from NAMA to manage his own bad assets.

So some landlords and rich people good, others not so good, other are fine.

Getting pegs down for that is going to be a killer …

Only developers had their loans transferred to NAMA.

Fair enough, but the substance of the point still stands. Why are developers not down in O’Meara’s camping looking for a suitable 2 bed Alpine tent to pitch outside their houses? The level of forbearance offered by NAMA is curious.

I’d have a different word for it.

To get to the stage of this repo yday would have taken 3 or 4 years from when they stopped paying. They must really have been not cooperating because the courts by and large are loathe to repossess family homes. Sherif was v heavy handed in fairness and would have some doubts as to how professional he ctually is.

I’d guess this place was not bought as a home loan as max allowable mtg is up to norm retirement age I.e 70 max. Prob done as commercial loan to be flipped on or something and hey moved in

This couple were just waiting for this as a publicity stunt and are trying to milk as much publicity out of it as possible. Pathetic carry on. They’re the type of people who a few years ago would have been laughing at all the peasants, boasting about all the money they were making. And now they’re comparing themselves to peasants during the famine. The irony. And to think of the amount of idiots who are taken in by it. FFS. People who bought genuine family homes to live in in 2005/2006 and are in difficulty now should be squirming at the notion of these people jumping on the sympathy bandwagon. As I said it’s only a short walk to Ballybrack. There’s nothing wrong with living there.

And it should be the same for Grehan, McNamara, Quinlan, Dunne, Kelly, Gannon etc. Take the fucking lot off them and set aside a nice litle street in Ballybrack or Adamstown for them to live in.
