By all accounts Liverpool are fucked financially.
Benitez wanted to bid for Upson, around 10m, the Yanks went to the bank and were told to fuck off but they would give them 2m.
So he bought the Greek lad for 2m.
But if they are fooked financially how could he afford to spend 2m? Like Manchester United are in so much debt its untrue yet they were too still spending. Wonder will we see these clubs suffer in longer term
Jamie Carragher was always vastly overrated but he seems pretty much finished these days.
Sublime awareness and touch there from Kuyt… Great finish from Torres also.
He was immense for a few seasons but I do believe that he is almost finished now.
I think he has suffered from the departure of Hyypia.

Jesus if Hyppia is making you look good you must be fairly shite. He was never as good as all the hype suggested, the fact he was a local made him popular with the fans but he would never have got into either the Chelsea or Utd teams.
Firstly Hyppia was an excellent defender.
Secondly, you think he wouldn’t have gotten into the Man Utd team when they had Silvestre? Get out of it.
Thirdly Liverpool has an excellent defensive record with Carragher and Hyppia so bang goes your theory.

Hyppia was ok but once his pace went he became a liability beacuse Carragher wasn’t good enough to cover.
Silvestre played most of his Utd career at left back and and was a decent defender for the most part.
Liverpool may have had a decent record with Hyppia/Carragher but that wasn’t my point. I said he wouldn’t have got into the Utd or Chelsea sidea, I stand over that.

What do you mean it wasn’t your point? That fact has completely disputed your point about Hyypia losing his pace and Carragher not being good enough to cover along with both of them being ordinary.
As for anyone seriously advocating the muck that was/is Silvestre as a good defender obviously hasn’t a clue what he is talking about.

Silveste was a decent defender, won the league four times with Utd. Yes he made mistakes, Carragher didn’t? I still have fond memories of Carragher scoring own goals against us. Hyppia and Carragher only played together for two seasons or so, two more seasons that Liverpool didn’t win the league.
Us?
Should have guessed you were one of those.
You can talk about winning the league and not winning the league but I will go back to the point about the defensive record, which you have already acknowledged. Carragher and Hyppia were very strong together.
And Silvestre was muck.

You’re blinkered as always farmer, Carragher was never good enough to get into either the Utd or Chelsea teams(Arsenal either back when they were winning leagues). He has been a fan favoutite for years which has made him immune to criticism. Failure to get rid of him soon will contribute to another disappointing year for Liverpool.
Arshavin !! go suck on that …
I’m blinkered?
You are the guy that is seriously advocating Silvestre as a defender as well as neglecting the defensive record of Liverpool with Carragher in it.
I have also already said that I think he is coming close to being finished at the moment but he was a great defender for Liverpool. He was also an integral part of a Champions League winning team, where he was immense against Europe’s best.

Are you suggesting that any defender will survive at a succesful club for ten years without being able to defend? Carragher has one exceptional year and is therefore a great defender?
Why are all Liverpool fans so bitter?
When did I ever say he was a great defender?
I said he was immense for a few seasons, which he was. He was superb the season following the Champions League as well, which was also Reina’s first season and the season after. His first poor season was last year which coincidentally coincided with Hyppia being out of the team more.
No bitterness, just a bit of banter… If you wanna see bitterness, wait for Shans response if UTD lose here…
Not sure if you are including me in that but you are the person who came onto the Liverpool thread giving out about Carragher and Hyppia without any real foundation.
I have just pointed out the tripe you have been spouting.
